Drive for Diversity Starts Strong in August

As summer heats up, so do the drivers in the Drive for Diversity program as the four drivers in action on Saturday collected two top-ten finishes at tracks across the Southeast.

Nineteen-year-old Jessica Helberg from Petaluma, CA racing for Frank Pedregon Racing drove to 15th and 11th place finishes respectively at Ace Speedway on Friday night. This weekend's success came after Helberg tallied three top-ten finishes earlier this season.

Helberg hopes her team's recent success is the beginning of good things to come.

"We are getting better as a team every weekend we compete," Helberg said. 'As a first year driver in the Driver for Diversity program, I am really focused on learning all I can in my upcoming races."

Recently Helberg and her team owner Frank Pedregon were honored in Indianapolis at the Lyn St. James "Women in Racing" luncheon. Together they received the "Opportunity Award" which is presented to those that go above and beyond in assisting females in motorsports.

Helberg will return to the track on August 11, where she will compete in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Twin 30's.

The Drive for Diversity program experienced additional success this past weekend including:

Brianne Cronrath: Cronrath piloted her Checker's/Rally's Chevrolet to a fifth and seventh place finish in the Twin 50 event at Ace Speedway. She returns to action on August 11.

Jesus Hernandez: Hernandez drove his Waste Management Chevrolet to a sixth place finish at Hickory Motor Speedway and registered his 11th top-five of the year. Jesus will resume action on August 12.

Peter Hernandez: Peter drove his Jackson-Hewitt/Sony Chevrolet to a 17th place finish at Stockton 99 Speedway. Peter will look to make ground on the current point's leader when racing resumes on August 12.

Allison Duncan, Chris Bristol, Marc Davis and Mike Gallegos were all idle this past Saturday, however, each will return to action August 12 in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series.

Drive for Diversity also has crew members on teams in the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Crew members for two NASCAR Busch Series teams were in action Saturday Night at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, IN.

Nicole Addison and Corey Hunter, crew members for PPC Racing finished 20th in the No. 22 Ford driven by Kenny Wallace. Chris Justice, Erin Cater, Jason Wong, Brandy Stimac and Mike Harris crew members for Jay Robinson Racing tallied a 37th place finish.

In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race from O'Reilly Raceway Park, Calvin Gravely, crew member for the Orleans Racing Team finished in 11th place.
