Erik Darnell in the No. 99 FinishMaster Automotive & Industrial Paint Ford was the Raybestos Rookie of the Race at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Darnell: "We struggled out there tonight. It's the same truck that we had at Memphis and I thought we'd be pretty good out there and we weren't. We had a decent qualifying effort but other than that we just struggled. Our Finishmaster F-150 wasn't that great. It was decent on the longer run but I still couldn't run with them guys up front. We made our pit stop there early, took a gamble to stay out, and I think the track position was worth it. I don't think we could have made it up on new tires. We'll take it."

You had a good battle with Bobby East late in the race. "Yeah, me and Bobby ran together in the middle part of the race, too. Me and him ran pretty hard, passed each other a couple of times. He was a little bit better than us there at the end but we were able to hold him off. He raced me real clean and I appreciate that. We'll go from here to Nashville."

The pit strategy gave you track position there at the end and helped you get a top-10. "It definitely gave us track position. I knew we weren't good enough to be able to pass those guys with fresh tires. Maybe Bliss might have been thinking the same thing with his truck because if we had both pitted we would have been in the back there. John Quinn made a good call to stay out and from there we had to fight and hold on to as many positions as we could because I knew we weren't going to make that many up coming from the back."

This team is becoming more consistent every week. "Yeah we're happy with that but I think if you go back and look at the beginning part of the year we were very well capable of that. We started off the year with a couple top-10s and we were running real well and we kind of hit a rough streak. I think the Kentucky race kind of turned it around for us. We ended up ninth there and second last week and 10th this week. We've got three top-10s in a row. We're looking to just build on that and get ourselves back in the points chase here or at least in the top-10."

Are you getting more comfortable in this series? "I think I'm getting more comfortable. Coming from the late model background the short tracks are something that I should be used to and I think that's why we ran well at Memphis. I think our worst finish on the short tracks, excluding Milwaukee where we had a tire problem, has been like a 12th or an 11th, which is respectable for being a Raybestos Rookie in this series. It's just getting used to the bigger tracks and that's taking some time. We're getting there, too."

Bobby East, No. 21 State Fair Corndogs/Edy's Dibs Ford: "We had a good run. We had fun racing the 99, me and Kraig Kinser in the 46. We raced all 200 laps together. We were by each other the whole race and that was fun. I just had a blast tonight. We didn't get a good starting spot. In practice we just made sure that we had the truck free enough for the nighttime and we did. We were good when the nighttime came around and that's what we wanted. I'm real proud of everybody. This is what we needed after a rough month-and-a-half, two months. I think we're pretty happy with it. We've had a rough month-and-a-half and everybody needed this. Everybody is doing the right thing, we just haven't had stuff go our way."

Is it special to run well here? "Yeah it is. I would have liked to have run better. It's my hometown and got some friends in the stands but we'll take it."

Michel Jourdain Jr., No. 50 Roush Racing Ford: "It was good. I feel like it's really my first short track race, other than Bristol, and Bristol to me is like a superspeedway. I think I learned a lot today and just happy. We've got a truck in one piece. I learned a lot. The guys gave me a good truck. Of course, you always want to be faster and be better. The result is not the best but I think we learned a lot today and that's the main thing."

Kraig Kinser, No. 46 Centrix Auto Finance Chevrolet: Bobby East said you guys raced hard the whole race. "We fought definitely the whole race. We raced each other pretty hard at the beginning and then we got settled in trying to follow each other for a while and then we raced each other there at the end. Bobby has had a lot of laps around here so he could get people where I couldn't and get them a lot easier. I tried racing him where I could. It was a real good night and a good night for the Chevy Raybestos Rookies. I'm sorry that Aric had a little bad luck but we were real good tonight."

Chad McCumbee, No. 08 GPS Store/Garmin Chevrolet: "If you would have told me that I would have run 17th when I first got here this weekend I would have been shocked. The weekend started out horrible. I didn't even sleep last night because I was sleeping in an airport trying to get here. My flight broke down and all kinds of good stuff. We weren't very good in practice, didn't qualify that great, but we made some key adjustments like we have in the past four or five races during the race. Right there at the end I felt like we had a top-10 truck. I told Bobby that this was the first time running this truck and now we have some decent notes. If we could have started here we really could have been good. We just keep improving. Our goal each and every week is to run in the top-20, top-15 and hopefully get some top-10s. We're accomplishing what we want to accomplish but we're always striving for more."

Aric Almirola, No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet: "Jack just decided that he didn't want us to have a good night, I guess. It's a shame. We were definitely capable of running in the top-five and we run top-10 all night. I'm really proud of my guys. I'm just really disappointed in Jack Sprague."

Ryan Moore, No. 40 Key Motorsports Chevrolet: "Just a long day I guess . We were a lap down. I let the 33 kind of get down in front of me and I'm racing the two trucks in front of me so I can get the lucky dog. I let the 33 kind of go and the 50 was stuck up high so I needed to get by him. Bodine in the 30 probably thought was going to lift. We're pretty good buddies and he thought I was going to lift but I couldn't. That was the truck that I was racing and that was what was going to keep us in the race. He just came down and I tried as hard as I could to keep off him and not wreck him and we just got turned around and got in the fence. I feel bad for Curtis Key and everyone. Everyone is putting a lot of effort into this and they're spending a lot of money and we're trying real hard to get better and we are a little bit each week. Every pit stop we make during the race we get better. We're just trying to take little baby steps. After a while, we'll get it here. It might be the last race of the year but we'll get it."
