California Speedway recently upgraded its official website, www.CaliforniaSpeedway.com, to include a Spanish Language section, which will allow Spanish speaking guests the opportunity to learn more about the upcoming SONY HD 500 on Labor Day NASCAR weekend.

"With the recent announcement that Columbian Formula One Superstar Juan Pablo Montoya will be joining the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, it has become even more vital for us to engage the Spanish speaking fan base," said Gillian Zucker, president of California Speedway. "This is yet another step of our aggressive Hispanic outreach plan."

The Spanish Language section can be accessed by clicking on the "EN ESPAÑOL" tab located in the upper right corner of any page on the website or typing in www.californiaspeedway.com/espanol.

Though the majority of the CaliforniaSpeedway.com site is in English, the Spanish section is growing. Currently, the Spanish Language section contains general information about California Speedway, including its location in Southern California and what events are held at the world-class racing facility. Also included is information on how to purchase tickets, on the internet or through 800-944-RACE where Spanish speaking ticket service representatives can assist race fans. The NASCAR Fan Guide contains information to assist "newcomers" get up to speed on the world of NASCAR racing - from tire safety to different sized race tracks, the official fan guide is the perfect tool in assisting those interested in gaining a quick insight into this multi-faceted industry. In the Spanish Language section, guests will find California Speedway news section in Spanish and a link to RacingUno.com, which provides up to date general racing news in Spanish.

According to the 2004 U.S. Census, 46.5-percent (4.6 million people) of persons living in Los Angeles County are of Hispanic or Latino origin and 34.7-percent (12.5 million people) of persons living in the State of California are of Hispanic or Latino origin. California alone has 5.5 million people who speaks Spanish at home (Source: American Demographics). About 5.8 percent of the people who use the Internet speak Spanish, making it the No. 4 language in the Internet community, following English (51.3 percent), Japanese (8.1 percent) and German (5.9 percent) (Source: Global Reach).
