SPEED will replace SPEED News on Sunday evenings with a new show, The SPEED Report, beginning Aug. 6 at 8 p.m. ET.

"Over the last 10 years, SPEED has been the absolute best at collecting highlights and cool racing clips from around the world," said Hunter Nickell, SPEED EVP & General Manager. "But moving forward, I think we need to do a better job of telling the stories behind the highlights. We have to deliver, not only to hardcore fans but to curious newcomers as well, compelling stories. It's easy to show fans what's going on, the challenge will be to show them 'why' it is going on."

In addition to the weekly 60-minute show, The SPEED Report will be the network umbrella covering everything from motor sports and automotive press conferences to a daily news ticker, updating viewers on the day's events.

For the debut show on Aug. 6, SPEED will have reporters on-site at The Brickyard 400 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race, the NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events at nearby Indianapolis Raceway Park, the Formula One race in Hungary and the AMA Superbike race at Mid-Ohio.

"SPEED will take an approach to news gathering that includes use of all SPEED delivery platforms," Nickell added. "Beginning with The SPEED Report, we will integrate the SPEED approach to storytelling across broadband, mobile and VOD applications as well."

Drew Johnson and newcomer Nicole Manske will anchor The SPEED Report desk, with veteran Ralph Sheheen reporting on-site from race venues. A state-of-the-art set is under construction at SPEED headquarters in Charlotte, N.C.

"The SPEED Report will break down the stories behind the statistics and race results," said Chris Long, SPEED VP of Studio Production. "We'll also put a weekly effort into introducing viewers to racers they might not get a chance to meet on a regular basis."

Coordinating Producer Neil Sullivan will lead a crew dedicated to The SPEED Report, including producer Pete Neal and News Director James Chiappelli.
