Solid Finish at Kentucky Puts a Smile on Musgraves Face

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion, Ted Musgrave had a smile on his face when he got out of his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra after finishing sixth in Saturday's Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway. Musgrave's Tundra was pretty stout all weekend long as he started Saturday night's race in the 12th spot and worked his way up to a strong top-10 finish.

"This was a solid finish for us tonight," said Ted Musgrave. "We started out strong and were able to come away with a sixth place finish. This was a good moral booster for everyone on our team. I had a good truck all weekend and pretty much all race long. The tires that we had were so hard that if you got out front you could really motor on and get a good lead on the rest of the pack. We saw that with the leader a couple of times tonight. Once we broke out of the pack we were able to put some ground on them and start to chase down the leaders. Getting stuck in traffic was pretty hairy though. There were a lot of drivers skating around out there in traffic. Even the drivers that were doing good by themselves and seemed to have dominant trucks were skating all over the place when they were in traffic. This finish will definitely help build our momentum for next week's race in Memphis."

Musgrave and his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra team hope their top-10 finish at Kentucky will be the first of a string of strong finishes forthcoming. His sixth place finish keeps him fourth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Driver Points standings, behind Germain Racing teammate and series point's leader, Todd Bodine. Fellow Toyota drivers, Johnny Benson and David Reutimann hold the second and third positions. Musgrave is 236 points out of the lead and 91 points out of third as we head into the second half of the 2006 season.
