Musgrave Pulls Off 6th Place Finish at Kentucky

Ted Musgrave drove the Germain Racing No. 9 Team ASE Toyota to sixth place in Saturday's Built Ford Tough 225 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway. Musgrave started 12th and was a factor all night long while claiming his eighth top ten finish of the 2006 season.

"The Team ASE Toyota was good all night long," Musgrave said. "Tom Ackerman and the guys gave me a great truck and we were competitive all night long. The tire that we had here was so hard that if you got out front, you could really motor on and get a good lead on the rest of the pack. We saw that with the leader a couple of times tonight, and once we broke out of the pack with our truck, we were able to put some ground on them and start to chase down the leaders. But in traffic it was pretty hairy. You saw a lot of drivers skating around out there in traffic. Even the drivers that were good by themselves and seemed to have a dominant truck were skating all over the place in traffic."

Musgrave's success in the No. 9 Team ASE Toyota truck at Kentucky could be a harbinger of things to come for the upcoming O'Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

"All we have is a little damage to the left side of the nose," Musgrave said. "We'll take it back to the shop and bang that out and polish it up and take this thing to Memphis. We'll make a few changes to it since Memphis is a short track, but this truck will run just as good there as it did here in Kentucky."

Musgrave continues to sit fourth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings, behind Germain Racing teammate and series leader Todd Bodine, and fellow Toyota drivers Johnny Benson and David Reutimann. Musgrave is 236 points out of the lead and 91 points out of third as the 2006 season enters its second half.

Next up for Musgrave and the No. 9 Team ASE Toyota is the O'Reilly Auto Parts 200 from Memphis Motorsports Park in Millington, Tennessee on Saturday July 15th.
