Toyota Qualifying Notes: Kansas Speedway

Mike Skinner, Bill Davis Racing, No. 5 Toyota Tundra:
"Our Tundra was awfully good. To be perfectly honest, I really thought Rick Crawford had this pole, he ran an awfully good lap. I just didn't think our Tundra had it in it. I got a late draw, and the weather helped me, with some shade on the front. All the elements put together was probably the reason we got the pole here at Kansas. We're just getting better and better. The Tundra's been really, really good."

Skinner became the career leader in NCTS pole positions with his 28th pole today.

"I think we tied it last week and now I think we're one ahead of Jack Sprague. Jack's an awful good qualifier and he's going to get a lot of poles. Hopefully, our Tundra team gets a lot of poles, and a lot of wins. I think Jack's run a few more races than I have. So, if he beats me with the poles, that's going to be my excuse. And, if I beat him, we just beat him."

Todd Bodine, Germain Racing, No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra:
"We didn't make it through inspection. Unfortunately, I don't know what the deal is. Our truck went through templates this morning and got a sticker put on it, and we didn't change anything. It's the same truck we've had for two other races, and it went through templates at both the other races. And, all of the sudden it won't go through templates. I don't know what the deal is."

"We have to start at the back. We'll pass a bunch of trucks on the track. Hopefully, we'll pass some in the pits. We don't really know how good my truck is going to be here. We struggled in the first practice and got better in the second practice. We made some changes to qualify, but we don't know what we got now because we didn't get to qualify. So, we start the race a little 'in the blind,' but I have a lot of confidence in the crew and I think we'll be OK."

Mike Hillman, SR., Team Manager, Germain Racing:
"We had a little trouble getting through some of the templates over there. It's just one of those things. It's their game, and you have to play by their rules. We went through templates yesterday and everything was fine. But, today we didn't make it through in time to qualify."

Johnny Benson, Bill Davis Racing, No. 23 Roger Smith and Sons Toyota Tundra:
"The opportunity to win three in a row is there. Now, whether or not we can do it is a totally different story. That's what everybody wants to talk about this week, so that's a good thing. Qualifying didn't go the way we wanted, but that was really the first time we attempted to make a run. We struggled some in practice. I'm only worried about the race, so I wanted to spend more time with that. Looking back, maybe we should have spent some more time on qualifying. But, then again, the race is the only thing that pays some money."

Ted Musgrave, Germain Racing, No. 9 Team ASE/Germain Motors Tundra:
"Prett pleased with our qualifying run. It's a new truck and we are getting back to where we were at the beginning of the season. Never made a qualifying run in practice, we were focusing on race stuff. When I went out there in qualifying I had pretty good confidence in this truck from what it was telling me in practice - to just hold it wide open and go for it. I think it's going to race pretty good. I think this truck can do it. I think it may be my favorite truck. I haven't raced it yet, but after this weekend I think it's going to be my favorite truck - and we'll take it everywhwere."
