NASCAR announced today that Steve O'Donnell has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Events and Operations, with special emphasis on NASCAR's three national series.
O'Donnell, 37, formerly served as Managing Director of Events and Operations. He will continue to oversee competition administration, at-track operations, strategic planning issues such as scheduling and sanctioning in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. O'Donnell is based at NASCAR's headquarters in Daytona Beach.
In addition, three other promotions were announced, all part of a reorganization of NASCAR's weekly and touring operations.
George Silbermann has been promoted to Managing Director of Administration, with a focus on the weekly and regional racing levels. Prior to joining NASCAR, Silbermann was president of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).
Richard Buck, a five-time Indianapolis 500-winning crew chief with Roger Penske's organization, has been named Director of Touring Series. Buck formerly was Director of Racing Development, Canada.
Bob Duvall has been named Director of Weekly Racing and Contingency Programs. Duvall is a former track operator at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, Pa.
