Great Pit Stops Propel Setzer to Fourth Top-10 in a Row and Seventh of the Season
Dennis Setzer and the No. E85 FlexFuel Silverado team did what they do best, get better and better as a race unfolds. Setzer's on-track efforts from his 25th starting position coupled with great pit work by the crew propelled them to seventh in the finishing order, their fourth consecutive top-10 and seventh of the season.
"We adjusted on the truck a lot to correct being tight in the center," said Setzer. "That tight conditions seemed to keep biting us in long runs. We just couldn't get it freed up through the center of the corner tonight. Our FlexFuel Silverado was pretty good on new tires but then we got on the right front so hard on the longer runs that the truck would just get tight in the center of the corner and we would lose a few positions then at the end of one of those long runs."
Crew chief Eric Phillips utilized great strategy to save the best set of sticker tires for the final tire change along with an adjustment to try and free up the No. 85 FlexFuel Silverado. The adjustments were what the Newton, NC native needed to keep his strong run going and get a solid finish.
"On the last run we had about seventy or so laps on the tires," Setzer concluded. "But most everybody did. Several of the trucks (that finished) in front of us had even more laps on their tires. It was mainly the issue that we abused that right front tire."
Next on the schedule for Setzer and the No. 85 Morgan Dollar Motorsports Silverado team is the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250, July 1, 2006 at Kansas Speedway.
