Kraig Kinser, NO. 46 CENTRIX Auto Finance Silverado, knew his first trip to the historic Milwaukee Mile was going to be a learning experience, and it was. The very flat, tricky track played out to be part of the ongoing challenges of a new track every race for the Raybestos Rookie in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS).
Kinser secured the 32nd starting position for the 200-lap/200-mile race. At the drop of the green, school was in session for him as the laps began to click off.
"Randy (Goss, crew chief) kept telling me to keep my rhythm and race the track," said Kinser. "It is a tough race track that is for sure but I learned something new every lap.
When the checkered flag fell, the Bloomington, IN native scored a 28th place finish.
"Going in, we were looking for a much better finish," Kinser concluded. "We came back with the fenders on the truck and I learned a bunch. It is too bad we don't get to run these tracks twice a season like Cup and Busch. But we will be better for next year."
Next on the schedule for Kinser and the No. 46 crew is the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway on July 1, 2006.
