Todd Bodine and his No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra had a rough weekend as they finished 20 th in Saturday's Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200. Bodine's No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra was a very loose all race long. Crew chief, Mike Hillman, Jr. along with his pit crew did all they could do to help Bodine, but the truck just didn't respond at the end.
Bodine started his No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra in the seventh spot but fell back early in the race to ninth. Bodine came in the pits on the second caution of the race for fuel, tires, and a track bar adjustment. When the field went back to green flag action Bodine started in the sixth spot. Todd's No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra had gotten better and by lap-50 he moved up into the fifth spot. The third caution came out on lap-78 and Bodine came pitted for tires, fuel, and a wedge adjustment.
When the field restarted Bodine was in the 11th spot. His truck was a lot better and he moved through the field once again making his way back to the sixth spot by lap-110. On lap-115 the seventh caution of race came out and Bodine came in for a quick stop for fuel and a track bar adjustment. The field went back to green flag racing on lap-118 and Bodine restarted in the second spot. On lap-119 Bodine took the lead from David Starr and led a total of eight laps then on lap-127 Hornaday passed Bodine for the lead. As the laps ticked down Bodine's truck started to handle worse and worse and he slipped from second to 10th by lap-150. The truck was getting harder to drive and harder for Bodine to hold on to each position. On lap-168 Bodine and Erin Crocker made contact, sending him spinning into turn-three. Bodine's spin brought out the final caution of the race. He was able to keep his truck from hitting the wall and any other trucks as he came down pit road under caution. The No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra crew quickly put on new tires and made a shock adjustment. The field went back to green flag action and Bodine restarted in the 22nd spot. Todd gave it his all but wound up finishing one lap down in the 20 th spot.
"This No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra was a handful all race long," said Todd Bodine. "We were loose pretty much the entire race. Around 70-laps into the race we were getting better. I was able to run in the top-five and 10 and even got our No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra up to the front to lead for a few laps. As we got to the end - it was just a handful to handle. The contact we had with Erin and being spun out didn't help either. This was not the finish we were looking for and it certainly hurts us in the points, but we are still in the lead. We just have to learn from this race and get ready for Kansas."
Bodine's 20th place finish at Milwaukee leaves him leading the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver's points standings with 126 points over second place driver, David Reutimann. Johnny Benson's win last week at Michigan and his win at Milwaukee helped him to move into the third spot, 130 points behind Bodine. Teammate, Ted Musgrave is in fourth, 198 points behind Bodine.
