Richardson Gains Experience at Milwaukee

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Rookie Robert Richardson gained experience this past weekend during the Toyota Tundra Milwaukee 200 at The Milwaukee Mile. Richardson who is outside of the top-30 in points was the last driver to qualify on time placed him in the 36 spot on the starting grid. Richardson knew he could only improve from his start and headed into the 200 lap event knowing that the seat time on the track was his most important assignment.

"We've struggled the past few races by not being in the top-30 in points," Richardson said. "I knew we were capable of making the race and finishing it after seeing all the hard work the guys on the team put into getting this truck just right during practice. As long as we made the event I knew we would be fine during the race."

Richardson quickly improved his position and was laying down times on the track comparable to the top-15 trucks. An unfortunate incident occurred when Richardson was in the middle of a three-wide situation when another competitor came up the track, bumped him causing the two trucks to spin. Richardson was forced to pit to repair the damage which cost precious time on the track putting him down several laps. Richardson never gave up and brought home a 33rd place finish in the event.

"I knew we had a better truck than what I had run," Richardson said. "Once we were involved in the incident we were down too many laps and wanted just to maintain a good run, have a solid finish and use the time to gain the valuable seat time I need so much on these tracks I'm green at. I have to say I'm so proud of this Benchmark Team - Kevin, Ray, Ethan, Randy, Greg and Gino gave everything they had to get this truck into shape and I can't thank them enough. We'll head to Kansas and see I can give them a better run."
