Few Overnight Parking Spaces Left for UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega

On the first day of summer it may be hard to put away thoughts of the beach in exchange for fall tailgating plans, but Talladega Superspeedway is urging fans to do exactly that in preparation for its upcoming UAW-Ford 500 event weekend slated for Oct. 6 - 8, or risk missing out.

Few reserved overnight parking spaces are left for the highly anticipated fall race weekend, which will feature 1,000 miles of racing in three days including the debut of the track's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series 250 on Saturday and the first competitive laps on the track's new asphalt.

The following select reserved spaces are still available for the 2006 UAW-Ford 500 event weekend:

  • A small number of reserved spaces for tents and automobiles in the Infield's Blue and Yellow Zones.
  • A small number of reserved spaces outside the track in West B Park, East Park and Legends Lane.

"It is likely that all of our reserved overnight parking spaces are going to be spoken for much sooner than we've ever experienced," said Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey. "While these are filling quickly, we are happy to continue offering three free parks. However, these areas are first-come, first-serve, so with that in mind we urge those that prefer to plan ahead to go online or call our ticket office to reserve their spots now before they are gone."

Talladega Superspeedway will welcome fans back for the UAW-Ford 500 event weekend set for Oct. 6-8, 2006, featuring 1,000 miles of racing in 3 days. The weekend begins with the Food World 250 ARCA RE/MAX Series race on Friday, Oct. 6, followed by the track's inaugural NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday, Oct. 7. Then on Sunday, Oct. 8, NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series teams will compete in the UAW-Ford 500, race four in the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Kids age 11 and younger are admitted free of charge on Friday and Saturday of race weekends in the general admission grandstands at Talladega Superspeedway.
