Bobby East started a career-best third in the Con-Way Freight 200 in his State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford F-150 at Michigan International Speedway last Saturday and finished 30th. East's next race will be the Milwaukee 200 at The Milwaukee Mile on Friday.
Bobby East on Michigan: "We're not supposed to worry about where we finish each week, but it's hard not to think about how good we were at Michigan. We qualified third and we ran in the Top 10 most of the day. I got turned around by another truck on a re-start and that put us back.
We still finished on the lead lap. More important, we were fast and we were racing with the leaders."
Bobby East on the season: "Sometimes the best way to learn something is to jump in the middle of it. We started third and we held our own for most of the race. When we got turned around on that re-start, it ended any hopes we had of a Top-10 finish. Unfortunately, that's part of racing, too. What we have to take out of it as a team is the way we improved our truck with each practice session, and the way it performed in qualifying and the race. When we're able to mix in a little good racing luck, we'll have consistent Top-10 finishes."
Crew Chief John on Michigan: "I'm really happy with the way Bobby and I worked together in our first race together. We swapped crew chiefs with Marcos Ambrose's team last week, and it seemed to help both teams. Sometimes you need a different approach. I was really pleased with our effort as a group at Michigan. Bobby showed a lot of savvy when he raced with the leaders, and he bounced back to finish on the lead lap after getting spun out by another truck."
