Ambrose, No. 20 Ford Review: Michigan
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Marcos Ambrose started a career-best second and finished 26th at the Con-Way Freight 200 last Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway. Ambrose has a unique sponsorship package with Team Australia and Aussie Vineyards before the race. Team Australia also is supported by RM Williams clothing, Tourism Australia and other progressive Australian brands.

Marcos Ambrose on Michigan: "Overall this may have been our best effort of the year. The level of communication continues to improve every week and that really showed at Michigan. We didn't have a Top-20 truck in practice, and yet everyone worked hard to make it better for qualifying.
We started on the outside pole and we ran up there for most of the race. It was a big step for this race team because for the most part we held our own."

Marcos Ambrose on the season: "It amazes me how far this team has come in the last three months. While we're doing what we're supposed to do - finish races and build for the future - we're all still racers. We're not supposed to look at the final results, but I think all of us would like to run up front like we did at Michigan."

Crew Chief Gary Gogswell on Michigan: "This was my first week with Marcos and it didn't take us long to get up to speed. He's got a good feel for what the truck needs and he did a good job communicating that to us. It was good to see our truck start on the outside pole, and then to see it running up front a lot of the race. We'll work on our finishes later. The important thing is we made dramatic improvement from practice to qualifying. And once the race started, the truck was still fast and Marcos did a good job with a lead-lap finish."

Marcos Ambrose's 2006 Season Highlights

Best Starting Position: Second (Michigan)
Best Finishing Position: 23rd (Mansfield)
