Musgrave Brings Home a Seventh Place Finish at Texas
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

Ted Musgrave and his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra Team needed a strong finish in Texas to get his team back on track. Musgrave and his Team ASE Germain Toyota crew did just that as they finished seventh in Friday's Sam's Town 400.

Musgrave's team overcame some struggles during Thursday's practice sessions, but he and crew chief, Tom Ackerman were able to make adjustments on the final practice session that helped them later on. Musgrave qualified his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra in the 23rd spot.

When the green flag flew in Friday's Sam's Town 400, Musgrave didn't waste much time moving out of the 23 rd spot up to 17th by lap-10. Under the first caution of the race (lap-23) Musgrave came into the pits for four tires, fuel, and a track bar adjustment. When the field went back to green flag action, he restarted in the 15th spot. By the second caution of the race (lap-35) Musgrave had made his way up to 13th . Musgrave stayed out on the track and restarted the race in the 12th position, making his way up to the top-10 by lap-50. The third caution came out on lap-51 and Musgrave brought his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra down pit lane for four tires, fuel, and right rear shock adjustment. When the field went back to green flag action, Musgrave found himself back in 22nd. The fourth caution flew not long after the field went back to green flag action. Musgrave once again restarted in the 22nd position. He then worked his way back up to the 15th spot by lap-70.

The fifth caution of the race came out on lap-101 as Musgrave moved back into the 11 th spot. Musgrave stayed out and the field went back to green flag action on (lap-103). On lap-115 Musgrave's No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra was a little loose and fell back to the 13 th spot. The sixth caution came out on (lap-117), giving Musgrave the opportunity to come in and pit for a wedge adjustment. When the field went back to green, Musgrave occupied the 12 th spot. By lap-130 he had made his way to back into the top-10. When the seventh and final caution came out on lap-162 Musgrave was in the ninth spot. After the restart Musgrave made his move to the front but ran out of time, bringing his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra home to a seventh place finish.

"We were able to break out of our slump and come away with a seventh place finish here at Texas," said Musgrave. "This group of guys battled back with me all race long. We were off in practice and qualifying, but Tom and the guys dug down deep to get this Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra running better. Our seventh place finish is a big boost for us, coming off a two-race slump. This finish gives us some momentum to build off. We are still second in the points chase and we are far from being out of championship hunt."

Musgrave is now 115 points behind teammate, Todd Bodine in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver point's standing.
