This is Mike Skinner's fourth consecutive NCTS pole at Texas and his second pole position of the season. Skinner has 11 career pole positions driving a Tundra and 26 career NCTS pole positions.
1st, Mike Skinner, Bill Davis Racing, No. 5 Toyota Tundra:
"Jeff Hensley (crew chief) and these boys at Bill Davis Racing had my Tundra tuned up pretty good. That was a really good lap for us. It drove pretty good. I thought about letting off because sitting on the pole here hasn't done us much good. But, you have to give it your best every time you go. Like I said, Jeff and the guys had this thing tuned up really good. It ran awful fast. The little Tundra motor got a little hot, hopefully, we didn't hurt her any. I'm excited."
Why do you qualify so well at Texas? "I'm a pretty good qualifier, usually. I don't know why I do so well here. You just hold your breath. I come in here and the guys ask; 'How'd it drive?' It scared me. How do you think it drives at 183 mph? I don't know. I suck it up and hold on for those two laps. The guys did an awesome job tuning this truck up. The little Tundra motor ran awful strong"
"I started to let off over there, because we keep sitting on the pole here and it's not doing us any good. I knew it was going to be a pretty good lap and I shortened the race track up as much as I could, I took a few feet off the track. A lot of guys don't realize that every little thing helps. I almost wish I was a little worse at qualifying and better bringing it home."
What about racing at night here at Texas? "It will be cooler and I think we'll have more grip. Our truck is fairly adjustable, and I think we'll be good for the race."
Todd Bodine, Germain Racing, No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Tundra:
"Obviously, that was the best lap that we ran. The truck is driving good and handling good so hopefully we'll have something for the race. It was as neutral as can be - it was pretty good."
