Chevrolet Silverado is the defending winner of the first of two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) races at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). No. 16 IWX Motor Freight/Xpress Motorsports Silverado, now driven by former NCTS champion Mike Bliss, took the 2005 win with Jack Sprague behind the wheel. Dennis Setzer, No. 85 Shell ROTELLA® T Silverado, finished third. Ron Hornaday, Kevin Harvick, Inc. No. 33 Silverado, and the No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado finished sixth and ninth respectively.

  • Chevrolet Silverado has won six of the 11 NCTS Manufacturer's Championships
  • Silverado drivers have won eight of the 11 possible Series' Driver Championships
  • Silverado drivers have won more races than any other brand - 122 of 275 (1995-Present)

Team Chevy Silverado has always enjoyed great success at TMS, a premier 1.5 mile banked tri-oval has been on the NCTS schedule since the 1997. Bowtie truck drivers have been to victory lane more than any other manufacturer, six total, in the previous 16 races held at the first class facility located Northeast of Ft. Worth.

Chevy teams and drivers not only enjoy the hospitality of track officials and staff, but also the fast and furious competition the track generates.

"Texas is a great facility and great track for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to race on," said Setzer, winner of the 2005 spring NCTS race. "Our series has raced here more than at any other track and for good reason, its one of the greatest facilities and fan-friendly tracks in NASCAR. Texas Motor Speedway has been good to me and we've gotten some really big wins here over the years but you have to be on your game to be able to run up front."

Two-time Series' champion Hornaday echoes Setzer's comments.

"The track and the facility are awesome," said the 2006 winner at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway. "They treat us so well when we race at Texas. Like everything in Texas, the track, the facility and the races are BIG. A win there would be awesome. The place just suits the Trucks. We are looking forward to taking our Chevy Silverado there and having a great run."

Raybestos Rookie contender Kraig Kinser will have off-track responsibilities at Texas. He is an invited celebrity in the Sam Hornish Charity Bowling Tournament on Wednesday night. The event will be held at AMF Showplace Lanes in Euless, TX.

"Bowling isn't exactly my sport," said Kinser. "But the event is for a good cause and I am proud to do what I can to help raise money for Speedway Children's Charities. I just hope there aren't too many cameras to catch my less than perfect form."

Date of Birth: February 27, 1960 - Hometown: Newton, NC
"Texas is a great facility and great track for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to race on. Our series has raced here more than at any other track and for good reason, its one of the greatest facilities and fan-friendly tracks in NASCAR. Texas Motor Speedway has been good to me and we've gotten some really big wins here over the years but you have to be on your game to be able to run up front. A few trucks will get hooked up it seems and pull away. And here in the Craftsman Truck Series, you usually only get one or two times to pit and make changes - so you have to be pretty close when the green flag falls.

This is a high-speed track, but there is plenty of room around the track to pass and the fans will get to see some great action on Friday night - especially under the lights. This track offers a driver great vision under the lights and the nighttime also brings more grip in the tires. I am especially excited that this will be a night race, because the night races have been good to me, and we really haven't run well here in the daytime over the years. The cooler temperatures will give the tires more grip and the motors more horsepower, so it's going to be a good race. You have to set your truck up to have lots of side-bite to enable the driver to keep the throttle wide open all the way around. The teams that do that will be fast."

Driver: Kraig Kinser
Team:
No. 46 CENTRIX Auto Finance Silverado - Morgan Dollar Motorsports
Date of Birth: October 8, 1984 - Hometown: Bloomington, IN
"I am anxious to get to Texas and get on the track. Texas is another track on my list that I have never raced on before, so it will be a learning experience for me also. I have watched IROC (International Race of Champions), NASCAR Busch Series, and the Nextel Cup Series race at Texas before, so this weekend will be my chance to get some laps under my belt.

"I have always run well at the Dirt Track at Texas, so I think that is why I am excited about this weekend, and I always look forward to running the sprint car here. The #46 guys have been working so hard, and I really want to give them a good run this weekend."

Driver: Ron Hornaday
Team:
No. 33 Kevin Harvick, Inc. Silverado
Date of Birth: June 20, 1958 - Hometown: Palmdale, CA
"I have never won at Texas but have had some pretty good runs there and led a lot of laps. We haven't been able to put a win together, so it is time for our KHI to put it together for a trip to victory lane. I am looking forward to the race. We are taking the same Chevy Silverado we ran at Charlotte and Dover and it has been running great!

"The track and the facility are awesome. They have changed the track twice and I like it both ways. They treat us so well when we race at Texas. Like everything in Texas, the track, the facility and the races are BIG. A win there would be awesome. The place just suits the Trucks. We are looking forward to taking our KHI Chevy Silverado there and having a great run."

Driver: Aric Almirola
Team:
No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado - Spears Motorsports
Date of Birth: March 14, 1984 - Hometown: Tampa, FL
"I am excited to be in Texas this weekend and Texas is the first race track this season that we go to that I have already raced on, so I am familiar with the track. I raced here last year, and it is a really fun track, and I am looking forward to bringing some of the momentum that this team has built over the last couple of races and having a good run. I am sure that the Spears family will be bringing guests to the race, so it would be nice to have a good showing for them, also.

"The team is bringing the same truck that we raced at Charlotte and Atlanta earlier this year, and our mile-and-a-half track program is very good, so it should be an exciting race."

Driver: Matt Crafton
Team:
No. 88 Menards Silverado - ThorSport Racing
Date of Birth: June 11, 1976 - Hometown: Tulare, CA
"I love going to Texas, and it is one of my favorite tracks to race on. At Texas, we are able to race side-by-side and it really makes for some good racing for the drivers and for the fans. The team has been working on building momentum over the past few races, and the upcoming races on the schedule are ones that I am really looking forward to. I can't wait to get to Texas and have a good run with our Menards Chevrolet."

Driver: Mike Bliss
Team:
No. 16 Xpress Motorsports Silverado
Date of Birth: April 5, 1965 - Hometown: Milwaukie, OR
"I am looking forward to heading back to Texas this weekend. The #16 team is the defending race winner, so I am looking forward to hopefully getting back into Victory Lane this weekend. This team has been building a lot of momentum, and hopefully this weekend will be our time to shine and show everyone what we are made of. We didn't run as well as we had hoped last year, so hopefully this year will be better."

Driver: Ryan Moore
Team:
No. 40 Key Motorsports Silverado
Date of Birth: August 10, 1983 - Hometown: Scarborough, ME
"I'm looking forward to going to Texas for the first time and to see what I can do on the bigger, faster tracks. I felt really comfortable at Homestead, which is a larger, faster track, and I don't expect the event at Texas to provide any more pressure or difficulty to my driving style even though I'll be in a race truck this time and not a car. It will be a challenge that I hope to be up to so I can finally give Key Motorsports something to finally be happy about"
