Dodge Motorsports driver Timothy Peters made a major move in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series owners standings by posting a hard fought 11th place finish in the City of Mansfield 250 at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Peters climbed from 32nd to 24th in the NCTS owners points, it was the team's second top-15 finish of the season.

No. 4 Dodge Motorsports Dodge Mansfield Race Recap

  • Rain washed out Friday's scheduled qualifying session. As a result the field was set by NCTS owner's points and Peters started in the 34th position.
  • By lap 20 Peters had worked his way up to the 26th position. "I am struggling getting of the corners."
  • On lap 45, under the third caution, Peters came down pit road to the attention of his crew. The Dodge Motorsports Racing Team cranked out a fast pit stop changing all four tires, adding fuel and making a track bar adjustment to help Peters turn better. He restarted in the 31st position.
  • By lap 56 Peters had worked his way to the 25th position proving the adjustments made worked. Spotter Danny Gill reminded Peters to conserve fuel every chance he got.
  • The fifth caution waved on lap 76 for spin in turn four. Peters was running in the 17th position. "I can't run on the bottom at all. I have to take to the top to get it to turn," Peters said.
  • By lap 100 Peters made his way into the top 15. The truck was beginning to turn and he was able to pass using the high line.
  • On lap 150 Peters cracked the top 10. Over the next 100 laps Peters comfortably ran in the 10th or 11th position.
  • Peters finished in the 11th position in the City of Mansfield 250. It was his best finish of the season.

Ron Hornaday Jr. won the City Of Mansfield 250. Jack Sprague, David Starr, Johnny Benson and Joey Miller rounded out the top five. There were a record 18 yellow flags for a total of 85 caution laps. The next event for the NCTS competitors is slated for June 2nd at Dover International Raceway Speedway in Dover, DE.
