Another solid performance for Ted Musgrave and his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Motor Company Toyota Tundra Team as they took home a fourth place finish in Friday's Quaker Steak & Lube 200 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Musgrave started Friday's race in the 15th spot, but he didn't stay there long as he worked his way up through the field to 10th by lap-60. On lap-90 Musgrave had made his way up to fifth and was working his way to the front of the pack.
Musgrave took second from Terry Cook on lap-110 and was making his way to race leader, Kyle Busch. As laps ticked down, Cook and Bodine were right on Musgrave's bumper. He did all he could to hold them off, but on lap-130 Cook passed Musgrave for second with Bodine right behind him. They took the second and third spots, pushing Ted to the fourth position. Despite having a strong truck, pressure had been building up in Musgrave's right front tire. Ultimately it wouldn't allow him to get up and race for his first win of the season or allow him to hold off both Cook and Bodine at the end of the race for the second position.
"We had a very strong truck all night. We did get a little tight in the beginning of the race, and then a little loose and ended up being a little tight again at the end. The right front tire had a lot of air pressure and my No. 9 Team ASE Germain Toyota Tundra got a little tight, but there wasn't a whole lot I could do with it. We decided not to change tires on our second stop because they just weren't wearing and we thought it would help with position. I was able to run my No.9 Team ASE Toyota up near the front for a good part of the race and we ended up with a fourth place finish. Todd finished in third - another solid race for both Germain Racing teams. I did all I could to keep Terry behind me since I knew he had the better truck. But, when Terry got underneath me, I just kind of lifted and let him go. He went past me, along with Todd and I didn't want to hold the two of them up."
Musgrave kept his streak of top-four finishes going with his fourth place finish in Fridays Quaker Steak & Lube 200 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It was Musgrave's six straight top-four finish of 2006. He is just 17 points behind his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point's leader and teammate, Todd Bodine. Musgrave and his No. 9 Team ASE Germain Motor Company team head to Mansfield Motorsports Speedway for next weekends race.
