East, No. 21 Ford Review: Charlotte

  • Bobby East started 27th in the Quaker Steak & Lube 200 in his State Fair Corn Dogs/Edy's Dibs Ford F-150 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway Friday night and finished 24th.
  • East's next race will be the Ohio 250 at the Mansfield Motorsports
    Speedway on Saturday.

Bobby East Quotes
On Lowe's:
"We didn't need to look at the final rundown to call Friday night's race a success. We knew the race at Lowe's would be difficult. Not only is it a fast racetrack, but it has new asphalt. The most-seasoned veterans of the Craftsman Truck Series had trouble there, and we managed to keep the truck pointed in the right direction and finish the race. That was our primary goal: Run laps, finish the race and learn as much as we can. We did that."

On the season: "This wasn't supposed to be easy, especially when you're starting a new team with a rookie. And while it's certainly been a challenge, it's been very rewarding because we get better every race.

We had some difficult conditions at Lowe's with the speeds, narrow racing groove and new asphalt, but we didn't back away from the challenge. We learned a lot about our race truck - and each other. As long as we keep building our foundation for the future, we're headed in the right direction."

Crew Chief Gary Gogswell Quote
On Lowe's:
"It was a difficult race, especially trying to practice and qualify during the heat of the day, then racing during the coolness of night. You had to be careful not to go too far with your setup to be good during the daylight. You also had to make sure you could keep the truck in one piece during practice and qualifying. We tried to make the truck comfortable for the race, and we succeeded."

Bobby East's 2006 Season Highlights

Best Starting Position: Fifth (Atlanta)
Best Finishing Position: 13th (Martinsville and Gateway)
Most Money Won: $12,040 (Gateway)
