President Curtis Gray Receives Special Recognition

Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray has been recognized as one of Florida's Top 100 Power Players in Florida International Magazine.

Gray was profiled among the diverse array of individuals who make significant contributions infusing Florida with its sense of individuality while carving a niche in their respective fields. Included in this exceptional group of Floridians are Miami Heat coach Pat Riley, National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield, football legend and paralysis cure advocate Nick Buoniconti, actress and musician Jennifer Lopez, and Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Leonard Pitts, Jr.

"I'm honored to be recognized along with a group of this magnitude and diversity," Gray said. "This is an acknowledgment of the dedication of our entire staff to the growth of Homestead-Miami Speedway and to the commitment that International Speedway Corporation (ISC) has made to motorsports in South Florida."

Homestead-Miami Speedway "has given an entirely new identity, and Curtis Gray deserves much credit," the article stated. "Since arriving in Homestead in 1999, he has grown the Ford 400 into a full-blown motorsports Super Bowl. Need proof? Last year's race, which seated roughly 100,000, sold out four months in advance."

The Ford 400 is the cornerstone of Ford Championship Weekend, the November 17-19 event that crowns the champions in NASCAR's three premier division, the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series.

Tickets for the 2006 weekend went on sale last Saturday, and sales are well ahead of last year's record pace, with less than 4,000 tickets remaining.
