Three-Day Race Weekend at Talladega Means More for the Money

03-27-2006 | TruckSeries.com Report

Talladega Superspeedway's two-day, $60 seats in the Allison Grandstand are widely known to be one of the best ticket values offered by any racing venue, but this year fans buying two-day tickets will get even more for their money with the addition of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup qualifying on Saturday.

In recent years, race weekend events at Talladega Superspeedway were spread out over four days, with Thursday primarily dedicated to NASCAR Busch Series qualifying, and then Friday featuring NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series qualifying. Now that the track has announced the new schedule and that it will be opening its grandstands three days instead of four, each series' qualifying event has been moved up one day. Therefore, fans who purchase Saturday tickets will witness The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series prior to the Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series race at no additional cost.

"Basically, this scheduling change has added another event to the bill on Saturday without raising prices, so two-day tickets for Saturday and Sunday have become an even better deal than before," explained Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey.

Great two-day seats still remain for the first race weekend at NASCAR's Most Competitive Track. Two-day Talladega Tower seats offering a spectacular view of the start/finish line are $135 and Allison Grandstand Seats are only $60. Two-day tickets grant admission to The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and the Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series race on Saturday, April 29, then the Aaron's 499 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Sunday, April 30.

In addition, while Friday's schedule features the The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR Busch Series, that day is also the only opportunity to watch NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series teams practice. Two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series practices will be held leading up to the Busch Series qualifying runs. Seats for Friday, April 28 are $12 for adults, and kids age 11 and younger are admitted free of charge in the general admission grandstands on Friday and Saturday when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
