Team To Carry Legendary No. 11 On Toyota Tundra
Red Horse Racing announced today that the team will field the No. 11 Toyota Tundra for veteran David Starr in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series beginning with the season opening race in Daytona. The team previously ran under the banner of the No. 38 but made the move to a new number for a new look in 2006.
"We have changed a lot of components to our team during the off-season and it only made sense for us to have a number change to round it all out," stated Red Horse Racing's co-owner and general manager Tom DeLoach. "We have designed a new number that puts the No. 11 into a box format which is meant to signify all parties of this team working together for a common goal, which is winning races and the 2006 championship."
The Red Horse Racing team was one of the hottest at the end of the 2005 race season by qualifying in the top-10 each of the last ten races along with two poles in the last twelve races. The team also garnered its first victory at the Memphis Motorsports Park while starting from the pole. Starr, who has been a premier performer in the Craftsman Truck Series since 1998, signed with Red Horse Racing during the off season after spending the last four seasons with another team and manufacturer. In 140 career starts in the series, Starr has accumulated three career wins, five poles and 59 top-10 finishes. Starr has also finished in the top seven in the season ending point standings in three of the last four seasons, one of only five drivers to have accomplished this feat.
"I am just so excited about this team and my move to Toyota," stated Starr. "Now for us to switch our truck number to something that has been so successful in this sport is like the icing on the cake. There is a lot of history with that number and it sure would be nice for us to add our own chapter to it. All of this is a fresh start for me and this team and that is a really comforting feeling."
