Enjoy Two Weekends of Racing & 432 Holes of Golf in Between During Alabama Speedweek April 21- 30

The state's premier sports entities announced today they are joining forces to present "Alabama Speedweek" April 21-30, 2006, featuring two weekends of racing and 432 holes of golf in-between.

Barber Motorsports Park, Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and Talladega Superspeedway have come together to promote the Alabama Speedweek concept, which begins with the Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park April 21-23 and concludes with Aaron's Dream Weekend at Talladega Superspeedway April 28 - 30. Motorsports fans are encouraged to maximize the week by taking advantage of the state's 24 beautiful golf courses comprising the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, dubbed one of Golf Digest magazine's "Places To Play."

"When we considered the timing and proximity of these major racing events, it made perfect sense to draw attention to them both in the context of a one-week Speedweek experience for motorsports fans," Talladega Superspeedway Vice President and General Manager Rick Humphrey said. "Combine that with how fortunate we are in Alabama to have some of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the country which are part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, and that is more than enough reason to build an entire one-week vacation here."

"We are proud to partner with Talladega Superspeedway, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail and the State of Alabama in promoting Alabama Speedweek," said Gene Hallman, President of Bruno Event Team.

"We believe that motorsports enthusiasts from all over the southeast will make their way to Alabama this spring and stay for these nationally-televised events. We look to build on this great concept for many years to come."

The world-renowned Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. will host the fourth annual AMA Superbike Championship Series. The Honda Superbike Classic, April 21-23, will be a Superbike double-header with one Superbike race on Saturday and a second Superbike race on Sunday. This premier motorcycle event will also feature three other races for a total of five races over the weekend.

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is an award-winning collection of two dozen courses throughout the state of Alabama that has been widely praised by golfers nationwide. The Trail's newest addition, the Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa just outside of Birmingham, features a Renaissance-style luxury hotel surrounded by natural beauty.

Then Alabama Speedweek concludes with the first major event of the season at Talladega Superspeedway, Aaron's Dream Weekend set for April 28-30. On Friday, April 28, fans will witness two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series practices, followed by The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR Busch Series. Saturday, April 29 will feature The Birmingham News Qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and the Aaron's 312 NASCAR Busch Series race. Then on Sunday, the stage will be set for the Aaron's 499 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race.

Alabama Speedweek provides an excellent opportunity and great value for family vacations, as well. Kids age 12 and younger are admitted free of charge to the Honda Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park when accompanied by a paid adult. And at Talladega Superspeedway, kids age 11 and younger are admitted free of charge on Fridays and Saturdays of race weekend when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
