Obviously excited about the upcoming NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Season, David Starr returned from the resent testing session at Daytona International Speedway with renewed hope and expectation.
"My new team and truck are definitely awesome," said the popular Texas native, who will be running the Number 38 Toyota Tundra for Red Horse Racing this season.
"Going to Daytona, be it to watch a race, test or compete, has always been a thrill for me," continues Starr. "It is just a magical place and the second I drive through the infield tunnel, I can just feel the excitement. And, this year was no exception. In fact, it was even more exciting than usual."
The first time out with a new team can often be somewhat nerve wracking and things don't always immediately gel, but this certainly wasn't the case for Starr. In fact, far from it.
"I have had a big smile on my face from the minute I got to Daytona," said Starr "The whole team, from my crew chief Jamie Jones to all of the Toyota engineers working with out went way of their way to make me feel welcome. While this was the first time I have actually ever driven a Toyota, I have always known they were good and, boy, did the Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra live up to everything I had heard and then some. The communication flowed throughout the entire test and getting to know and work with the entire crew was just awesome. We tried all kinds of different setups and drafted exceedingly well. In short, it was one of the most positive tests I've ever participated in at Daytona. We were right up there in the thick of things and I couldn't be more pleased. I can't wait for the Green Flag to signal the start of the first race. I have nothing but good vibes and think that the 2006 season will be a really good one."
