Kluever: "We had a really good World Financial Group F-150. We were off today in the pits, unfortunately. Normally my guys are really good and I won't hold it against them. We gave up a lot of track position there, I think. We did have a really good truck, something that would have been top-five for sure, maybe even fast enough to run up there with the leaders. I was driving my heart out trying to win for these guys. They gave me a really good truck and that's all I can ask. It's one of the better trucks that I've had all year. All in all, it was a good day for us, even though we didn't get the finish to show for it."
Did you just need more adjustments and more laps? "We just needed to keep our track position that we had, that was about it. We started out like eighth or ninth, I think, and then pitted and we were 13th or 14th on the restart and we worked our way all the way back up to seventh or eighth and then we fell back again to 10th or 11th again on the next restart. It's unfortunate, but like I said, my guys have been really good all year and I'm not going to hold it against them at all."
Did racing in the daytime when you prepared for a night race throw you for a curve? "I think with practicing yesterday morning in the clouds and it wasn't very hot out was probably very similar to what it would have been last night. We just kind of stayed with it and it turned out we raced at the same time that we practiced. We were pretty good, just a little free to start and then Mike Beam [crew chief] made some adjustments and they were really good. The truck came alive in the middle part of the race and it was really good the second half. Unfortunately we couldn't keep our track position."
Raybestos Rookie of the Year Press Conference
Kluever: "I have to thank Jack Roush for the opportunities that I've had already. It's pretty amazing what he's done as far as helping people develop their careers in the Craftsman Truck series. And having four people come through his organization that turn out to be Raybestos Rookie of the Year is pretty impressive. I plan on running for Raybestos Rookie of the Year in the Busch Series next year and in 2007 I'll be at it again running for Raybestos Rookie of the Year in the NEXTEL Cup Series in the AAA Ford Fusion. I'm excited about the future. All of the Busch plans aren't finalized exactly at this moment but I'm excited about it. They tell me that if I can pull off rookie of the year three years in a row I'll be the first driver to do it. Greg Biffle was the only other one [who had a chance] but I think Jamie beat him in the NEXTEL Cup Series."
Timothy Peters, No. 4 Bailey's Dodge: "I really didn't have it balanced right. We setup for night time and we were just too loose today. It seemed like the last 30 laps we got a handle on it but it was just too late into the race and we weren't good enough on track position. Sammy Sanders, Danny Gill and the whole Bailey's team did a good job today calling the race and getting me in and out of pit road. The pit stops were great. We'll take this momentum and hopefully in the next couple of weeks or a month we'll know what I'm doing next year and maybe we can get us a couple of wins."
