Todd Kluever, No. 50 World Financial Group Ford:
"We ran a .58 on our bonsai run in practice and ran a .60 here. Our World Financial Group Ford F-150 is pretty good. I think that will put us somewhere close to the top-10 or right around there. We'll get a decent starting spot and it will be good for tomorrow."
Was it an advantage or disadvantage going out early? "I think it's a disadvantage, really, but who knows? We'll see. I guess wide open is wide open, whether it's the heat of the day or cool at night. If you've got enough grip to do it in the daytime, all the grip in the world might not help you later on. I think it's going to be a disadvantage. Motors like the cool weather a little bit. It is what it is."
As a Raybestos Rookie, is it tough being the first one out to qualify? "At a place like this, not as much just because it's wide open here. It's one of those deals where you go out and put it in fourth gear and hold it to the floorboard and steer around for two laps. It definitely isn't the most fun to go first. It's a little less difficult here."
Is the track dramatically different at night versus daytime? "I don't think so. There's enough grip here in the daytime that we can run wide open so the night just makes it a little easier, which is great for us. I think it will make the racing better because I think it will bring more trucks into the wide-open category. It will make more trucks handle at that level. It will be better for racing but it's pretty similar, just a little more grip."
Will track position be important here in the race? "I think so. I'd love to see it like it was in the spring where we could get a nice long green flag run and green flag pit stops and the whole deal. Usually on these mile-and-a-halfs we end up not being so good for the first 10 laps of a run but really good the longer we go on a run so I'd really like to see one go a long distance and see where we end up. Who knows, we'll see what tomorrow has for us."
