The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) announced the Tyson Fun Walk NASCAR On Track for Charity fundraising event which is set for Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at Lowe's Motor Speedway. NASCAR fans participating in the event will have the opportunity to walk on the racetrack to get an exclusive look at the "largest sports facility in the Southeast," while contributing to the benefit of thousands of children. The charity event precedes the running of the UAW-GM Quality 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race, which gets underway later that day (7 p.m., NBC-TV).

Together with Tyson, the national title sponsor of NASCAR "On Track for Charity," NASCAR is continuing to pledge its support for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and Speedway Children's Charities. The Victory Junction Gang Camp, a non-profit organization founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their late son, Adam, provides extraordinary, race-themed, camping experiences to children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses. Speedway Children's Charities, also a non-profit organization, aids children in need of medical, educational or social services by supporting hundreds of non-profit charities that provide those services effectively.

The online pre-registration fee for the Tyson Fun Walk is $20 until Oct. 13 and $25 at the track; children under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult and can participate for free. All registered participants will receive a T-shirt. Fans can register online at www.speedwaycharities.org or by calling (704) 455-4396. Registration will also be held at the Tyson Fun Walk tent located diagonally across from Gate 26 near the tunnel entrance.

"As a proud partner of the motorsports community, we're thrilled to be part of the Tyson Fun Walk at the Lowe's Motor Speedway," said Bob Corscadden, Tyson's senior vice president and chief marketing officer.  "The spirit of this walk is very much in line with Tyson Foods' long-standing commitment to empowering and improving the lives of people in need."

In addition to Tyson, Goody's will continue to partner with NASCAR for the event, serving as national associate sponsor.

"This is our second year of taking part in the Fun Walk/On Track for Charity event, and we have been involved with The Victory Junction Gang Camp from the very beginning," says Alan McKirby, senior brand manager for Goody's.  "These walks are truly a great experience for fans and help raise much-needed funds to support two great causes."
