Las Vegas 350K - Official Results
Todd Bodine in Victory LaneTodd Bodine dominated all night long, but needed to make a last lap pass of championship contender Ted Musgrave to take the win in the Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Musgave had powered to the lead just moments before the fifth and final caution came out on lap 145 to send the race into overtime.

Musgrave led handily on the first of the two laps to conclude the race, but Bodine had a strong run off turn two on the final lap and powered around on the outside to take his second win of the season. Musgrave finished second and closed the points gap on leader Dennis Setzer. Musgrave led his first laps since June, and kept his truck in the top-5 for the entire evening. With the second place finish, combined with Setzer's 14th place finish, Musgrave now cuts the points lead to just 5 points heading into Martinsville.

Jack Sprague slapped the wall coming the white flag to set up a fantastic battle for the third position, which was won by David Starr at the stripe by a bumper. Sprague was fourth at the line, with defending series champion Bobby Hamilton making a strong recovery after two races of sour luck to pick up fifth.

Pole sitter Mike Skinner led early, but faded to a sixth place finish, with last week's winner Rick Crawford finishing in seventh. Raybestos Rookie of the Year leader Todd Kluever finished eighth, Brandon Whitt was ninth, and Tim Fedewa was 10th. Fedewa was fifth on the final restart, but a nudge from behind sent him out of the groove and back into the pack on the last two laps.

The race was red flagged for six minutes on lap 4 when Tracy Hines had a left rear tire fail and it sent him on a wild spin down the front stretch. Hines pounded the front stretch wall and rookie Joey Miller and Brendan Gaughan were caught up in the ensuing stack up. Gaughan eventually retired with a broken valve spring, while Miller was able to continue.

The race went green for the next 63 laps before Chad Chaffin went for a slide in turn two. That allowed the leaders to come back to the pits, just a handful of laps after the completion of green flag pit stops. Steve Park led on the restart, but Bodine quickly moved back to the front to resume his relentless charge. Kelly Sutton and Bill Lester were also involved in single truck incidents in turns one and two; Sutton spun to the low side of turn two while Lester had a right front tire go soft and made contact with the turn two wall.

The series is off until October 22 when they head to Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 200.  (High Sierra Photo)
