Dennis Setzer Maintains Points Lead, David Starr and Jack Sprague Score Top-Five
David Starr, No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado, Qualified 8th, Finished 3rd
"This was a great run for our Spears Chevy Silverado. We were pretty tight but Dave (McCarty, crew chief) and the guys made some adjustments and we got pretty good there at the end. We had loosened the truck up for qualifying and that was the right thing for us to do. We probably could have loosened it a little more and been good in the race but we would have sacrificed something there for the race. But I am pretty happy how we ran and finished tonight.
"I had a heck of a show in front of me watching Ted (Musgrave, second place finisher) and Todd (Bodine, race winner). It was a great move Todd made there on the last lap to get the win. I was hoping it would give Jack (Sprague) and I a little opportunity to make a run at them, but they were clearly the class of the field.
"Jack is my GM Racing Silverado team mate but we race each other hard. I got by him on the start of the green white checkered but then he got a great run into one on the white flag lap and got back by me. He slid up the track a little bit in three and I was able to get up under him and we came out of four side by side. We got ahead by a nose to get third.
"We have had some rough the last few races and have been I n a little bit of a slump so this race, to run this hard all race, in the top-10 then the top-five is good. Being here in Vegas is close to Wayne and Connie Spear's home of LA, California so there are a lot of friends and family here. It is good to have a strong run and finish for them."
Jack Sprague, No 16 Chevy Trucks Silverado, Qualified 20th, Finished 4th
"We were just on the verge of being a tick loose but our Chevy Trucks Silverado was good tonight. Chris (Showalter, crew chief) made great calls in the pits tonight; we made adjustments the first two stops and then left it alone on the last stop. We needed a long green run. Those restarts and short runs hurt us because we would start out loose but got better as the laps went on."
"We started 20th and worked our way through the field pretty well but the water temperature went up on the truck so we pitted under green to find out what the problem was. We had a tear off covering the grill so it is a good thing we pitted or we would have hurt the motor running at 260 degrees. Fortunately we got a full green flag pit stop cycle and came back in the order running fourth."
"David got a run on us through three on the last lap of that green, white checkered and we had a little drag race there to the finish line. It was a good race tonight, we really needed it for everyone on our team."
Ron Hornaday, No. 6 GM Goodwrench Silverado, Qualified 11th, Finished 13th
"We were so tight all night and then we ended up a lap down. We got the truck set up how we needed it, but we couldn't catch a break or a caution to get our lap back. I think we could have finished better had we gotten it back. At the end we had nothing to lose and came in and put a qualifying set up on. The tires we used we so bad that it didn't make a difference. Not a bad night for the GM Goodwrench team, but it could have been better."
Dennis Setzer, No 46 Chevrolet Z71 Silverado, Qualified 22nd, Finished 14th
"Not what you guys were looking for with the championship battle heating up? "No it wasn't tonight was a really tough night for the whole forty-six Silverado team. We couldn't get any grip on the first long run of the race. That got us down a lap and we really never were able to make that up. Eric and the guys made some adjustments to get us a little better but we still weren't where we needed to be. The tires we had here tonight would really fall off bad after about forty laps. Then you just had to be smart about picking your spots."
"You've still got the points lead but its much smaller than it was just two or three races ago. What approach do you take going into the final five races? "We know we have to be better than this. There are two more tests that we have scheduled coming up and that will help us prepare for some tracks of this size. Martinsville is next, and it's my favorite track. So we've got some good things going for us and we will just have to keep plugging away and go out in each of those races and try to win them."
