| Memphis Motorsports Park Opens Gates to Katrina Evacuees
09-08-2005 | TruckSeries.com Report
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Memphis Motorsports Park is opening its gates to evacuees from Louisiana and Mississippi, offering free admission to the track's most popular weekly racing events - the Thursday night sessions of TCI Test-N-Tune at the championship drag strip, and the Friday night sessions of the O'Reilly Thunder Racing Series at the quarter-mile dirt track. Gates open at 5 p.m. for each event. "Our hearts go out to all of the families who have been displaced, lost so much and find themselves so far from home," said Jason Rittenberry, Memphis Motorsports Park Vice President and General Manager. "We cannot fathom the financial and emotional hardship that these people are facing, but hope that at the very least, an evening at the races will allow them a chance to relax and enjoy themselves." All that is required for admission is proof of residence (valid driver's license). The offer is good through the end of the 2005 racing season (through Oct. 8 at the dirt track, Oct. 27 at the drag strip).
