On the heels of California Speedway's announcement to support the American Red Cross to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina, several speedway partners have announced additional fundraising efforts that will take place during the SONY HD 500 weekend.  All "Race for Relief" efforts by California Speedway and its partners will go to the American Red Cross.

"Given the magnitude and scope of what has happened in the Gulf States we are grateful that our great partners are pitching in to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort," said California Speedway Vice President Roger Curtis.  "We plan on having a great race weekend, but our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow Americans on the Gulf Coast in there time of need."

Ameriquest Mortgage Company, the sponsor of Saturday's NASCAR Busch Series Ameriquest 300, will collect funds at Ameriquest booths on the California Speedway midway throughout the weekend.  Additionally, the corporation will match all donations received on Saturday, September 3.

Sony Electronics, the sponsor of Sunday's SONY HD 500, has donated over 5,000 Ryan Newman SONY HDTV hats that will be sold at California Speedway merchandise trailers with 100-percent of purchase price being donated to relief efforts.

Stater Bros. Markets, Official Grocery store of California Speedway and sponsor of the spring NASCAR Busch Series race, will be accepting donations at all Stater Bros. throughout Southern California and the Stater Express in the infield.

California Speedway has arranged for the American Red Cross to accept cash, check and credit card donations at all Grandstand Gates during the Labor Day Weekend events.  The technology for accepting credit card donations has been courtesy of FedEx IT.
