Rick Crawford and his No. 14 Circle Bar Truck Corral Ford team have turned hundreds of laps at Talladega Superspeedway. Until now they were testing for racing at other racetracks. This time it's for Talladega and this time it counts. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will make their first start at the superspeedway on Saturday, October 7th 2006. Leading the contingency to be the first winner of a NCTS race is Mobile, Alabama native Rick Crawford.
While cutting his racing teeth on the short tracks of Alabama, Crawford could only dream of racing at Talladega Superspeedway. In October of 2006 dreams will become reality. "Having grown up in Alabama, Talladega is like sacred ground. To an Alabama boy, Talladega is where legends are made like, the Allison's, Bonnet, and Farmer. The way I see it, the trucks are coming home, home to Alabama," said Rick Crawford.
Crawford went on to say: "We've tested quite a bit at Talladega, but it has always been for Daytona or some type of a manufacturer test. This test is the first time we'll be able to work on racing at Talladega. The race is still over a year away but it's already circled on my calendar. My Crew chief, Kevin "Cowboy" Starland is from Michigan, so I've been teaching him the words to Lynyrd Skynyrd's, Sweet Home Alabama, so he can sing it with me in victory lane."
Rick Crawford and the Circle Bar Truck Corral Team will be participating in a Ford test for 2 days at Talladega Superspeedway on August 16th and 17th.
