Brian Keselowski to Run ARCA Race at MIS
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Brian Keselowski will make his second career start at his home race track of Michigan International Speedway this weekend in the Hantz Group 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race.  The Rochester Hills native competed at the two-mile speedway earlier this season running in the top ten throughout much of the event, but having to settle for a 17th place finish.  Since that event, Keselowski has competed in three more races this season scoring top ten finishes in all three.  This weekend the 23-year old son of 1989 ARCA Champion, Bob Keselowski, hopes to continue his string of top tens in front of family and friends as well as improving upon his career-best ARCA RE/MAX finish of seventh at both Kentucky Speedway and Lake Erie Speedway.

"I really look forward to racing at Michigan," said Keselowski.  "It was awesome racing in front of all of my friends and family back in June.  We had a great run and we have really done well in the last three ARCA races that we have entered this season.  But it would really mean a lot to get my career-best finish here at Michigan.  I think this car we have for this race is more than capable of finishing in the top five.  I was impressed with Michigan when I raced here in June because there is so much room to pass on the track.  It is a lot bigger than it really looks and it enable the drivers to choose one of three lines as long as you can get your car working anywhere on the track."

Keselowski has been running a very limited ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule both last season as well as the 2005 season.  Keselowski also serves as mechanic and jackman on his family's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry which is driven by his younger brother, Brad.  In his ten career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts, Keselowski has earned a total of six top ten finishes and this season he has completed 99.8 percent of the laps that he has attempted in competition.  Keselowski also earned the 2003 track championship at the Toledo Speedway in Ohio.  His future ARCA RE/MAX career hinges on finding sponsorship funding to hopefully enable him to compete in all ARCA speedway events in 2006.

"It is a little frustrating to run really well at a few events and then have to sit out and wait for funding before you can race again," said Keselowski.  "But the truck team definitely keeps me busy even though I am really looking forward to the chance of running all the ARCA speedways in 2006 if the sponsor funding comes together."
