Tracy Hines and Josh Wise represented Team Mopar in USAC National Midget Series action last week, as the pair combined for three Top-five finishes and two Top-10 finishes on the week. The event at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska on July 26, which was to kick off the week's racing action, was canceled due to heavy rain.
Wise kicked off his week instead with a second-place finish at Junction Motor Speedway in Nebraska, competing in the No. 11x for Wilke-PAK Motorsports in the Gateway Midget Series. The current USAC Midget Car Series points leader continued his momentum as he jumped back into his No. 20 Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises ride for the 28th Annual Belleville Nationals in Belleville, Kansas. Wise drove to a ninth-place finish on July 29 in the Belleville Nationals preliminary event and capped the weekend off with a seventh-place finish in the finale.
Hines again returned to the cockpit of an open wheel machine, driving the No. 11 Wilke-PAK Motorsports machine to a fourth-place finishing effort in the Belleville Nationals preliminary event. He also picked up a fourth-place finish in the trophy dash prior to the feature event. The event finale saw Hines drive to a fifth-place finish at the conclusion of the weekend.
Wise continues to lead the USAC National Midget Car Series points chase, while Teddy Beach in the Ed Pink Mopar-powered Beach Boys Motorsports entry sits in fifth place. Dave Steele and the No. 2 Nicholas Motorsports team are currently ranked ninth in series points, competing in the pavement events only.
The USAC National Midget Car Series will return to action on August 13 at Salem Speedway in Indiana.
