Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va. stayed atop the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division point race Saturday night at South Boston Speedway by scoring his eighth victory of the season at the four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

The 150-lap race was the featured attraction of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Miss Utility Night race program.

Sellers started from the pole position and led the entire way, but there was a host of racing action behind him in the star-studded, 26-car field.

"It was good to get a win against some of the guys we had to beat tonight," Sellers said. "Whenever you beat guys like Timothy Peters, Deac McCaskill and David Triplett, you know you've had a good night."

Timothy Peters, the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series champion at America's Hometown Track, made his first appearance of the season in 2005. Peters, who resides in Providence, N.C. and is competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with Bobby Hamilton Racing, qualified sixth and grabbed a runner-up finish in the event.

Peters was up to third by lap 22 and took over the second-place position on the track on the 48th circuit.

Drew Herring of Benson, N.C., who is second in the Late Model title chase at the four-tenths mile asphalt oval, rallied from a 10th-place starting spot to finish in third place.

Owen Miller of Emporia, Va., who began the night in the 14th position, surged through the field to finish in fourth place, while Jonathan Cash of Oxford, N.C. rounded out the top five drivers. Miller had battled into the top four by lap 111.

Justin Johnson of Roxboro, N.C. motored to a sixth-place run for the night, while Scott Worley of Long Island, Va. placed seventh and was followed by Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va. in eighth place.

Deac McCaskill of Raleigh, N.C. was ninth in the race, while David Quackenbush of Lorton, Va., the final driver on the lead lap, placed in the 10th spot.

The race was slowed by three caution periods, one that came out on lap 25 when a light rain fell for a short time. After a short red-flag period, the race went back under the green flag.
