Saturday will be a homecoming of sorts for Timothy Peters at South Boston Speedway.

Peters, the 2004 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car Division champion at South Boston Speedway, is scheduled to be on the starting grid Saturday, July 30, when the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car competitors hit the asphalt as part of the Miss Utility Night race program.

The first race of the Miss Utility Night program is scheduled to get the green flag at 7 p.m.

It will be the first Late Model Stock Car action at America's Hometown Track this season for Peters, who is now competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving a Bailey's cigarettes-sponsored ride for Bobby Hamilton Racing, based out of Nashville, Tenn.

"I am definitely looking forward to coming back and racing where I won the championship at last season," Peters said. "I have missed racing there. I have missed the competitors and the fans. It will be good to get back home."

Seven-time winner Peyton Sellers leads the way in the Late Model standings by 26 points over four-time victor Drew Herring. Sellers finished in second place last weekend behind Deac McCaskill, while Herring earned the pole position and finished third.

Peters is hoping, after testing at the four-tenths mile oval on Friday this week, that he can be in the mix for a victory on Saturday.

"I hope we can come up there and give Peyton a run for his money," Peters said. "We definitely would like to get a win."

Jonathan Cash is third in the chase for the Late Model championship, while Owen Miller is fourth, just four points ahead of fifth-place tie between Ryan Rhodes and Brandon Butler.

Also scheduled as part of the four-race program Saturday night will be action for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Virginia Army National Guard Pure Stock Division and the touring Southern Vintage Modified Series.

Justin Snow and Jonathan Bailey are currently deadlocked atop the Limited Sportsman Division standings. Snow has eight victories for the season, including one last weekend, while Bailey has been to the Winner's Circle seven times.

Lee Anderson is the current leader in the Pure Stock title chase, but is just six points ahead of second-place Nick Igdalsky. Joey Throckmorton and Chuck Watkins are tied for third place, 12 points behind Igdalsky.

Pit gates will open July 30 at 1 p.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get the green flag at 5 p.m. as well.
