Yellow Transportation today announced its associate sponsorship of the Edge Performance Group-owned No. 43 Chevrolet NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry for up to three races in 2005.
The truck will be driven by Johnny Sauter, who is also part owner of the team, in at least two races later this year: Milwaukee (June 24) and Indianapolis (August 5). In addition, the team has tentative plans to run at Richmond (September 8).
While broadening his role in the NASCAR community to include team ownership, Sauter will continue in his primary role as the driver of the No. 1 Yellow Transportation Dodge in the NASCAR Busch Series.
"Our sponsorship of Johnny's team is a logical step for the Yellow Racing program," said James Welch, president and chief executive officer of Yellow Transportation. "Not only does it give us the opportunity to return to our NASCAR sponsorship roots - we got our start as an associate sponsor in the Craftsman Truck Series back in 1998 - but it also represents a nice opportunity for Yellow Transportation to show our support for Johnny Sauter. Johnny has been an outstanding representative of Yellow Transportation since being announced as the driver of the #1 Yellow Transportation Dodge in the NASCAR Busch Series late last year."
Sauter is looking forward to the opportunity to represent Yellow Transportation, both as a driver and as a team owner.
"Driving for Team Yellow in the Busch Series has been a great opportunity and their support of my racing goals beyond the series is something that I hope to repay with a couple of top finishes in No. 43 Chevrolet," said Johnny Sauter.
Earlier this month, Sauter recorded an eleventh place finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway. In 2004, Sauter made two starts in the series, scoring a second place finish at Indianapolis Raceway Park and an eleventh place finish at Richmond International Raceway.
