Dennis Setzer has two wins on the fast 1.5 mile superspeedway. In fact, he is the defending champion of the June NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCTS) race at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). In addition, No. 46 Chevrolet Silverado team owner David Dollar is from near by Hennessey, Oklahoma adding another incentive for Setzer and his Eric Phillips-led team to strongly focus on repeating the 2004 win. Setzer is currently sixth in the NCTS championship points chase.
David Starr is a Texas native - born, raised and still resides in the Lone Star state - so winning in front of his hometown crowd is important. Starr has five top-five and six top-10 finishes in 13 NCTS starts at Texas but has yet to take his No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado to victory lane at his home track. Starr sits ninth in the championship standings heading to TMS.
Jack Sprague has 10 NCTS starts at TMS, which have netted one victory, one pole, five top-five, and six top-10 finishes. He also has a strong second place finish in NBS competition. TMS is a track that the three-time NCTS champion has always liked and has fit his driving style. Sprague is focused on taking his No. 16 Chevy Trucks Silverado to victory lane on Friday night. Sprague is 12th in points as the series heads to TMS for the ninth race of the 25-event season.
Two-time NCTS champion Ron Hornaday has not visited victory lane at TMS in four previous NCTS starts or four NBS starts. He knows how tough the track can be and how fine the line is between the right setup under the truck or the wrong setup. With his victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March 2005 and a strong run at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May, tracks similar to TMS, Hornaday and his No. 6 GM Goodwrench Silverado team are prepared to be a contender for the win. Hornaday is currently fourth in the championship chase, just 100 points out of the lead.
"With several of our Silverados performing well at both Atlanta and Charlotte, tracks similar to Texas Motor Speedway. " said Dayne Pierantoni, GM Racing Silverado program manager. " I think we can look forward to a fast, competitive race Friday night and solid results for our Team Silverado drivers. We recently conducted a test at Chicagoland Speedway. Although Chicagoland isn't on our race schedule, it has proven to be a good track for testing aero, engines and for doing some chassis work and we're pleased with the gains we made in performance and the ultimate results.
"As a result of Ron's (Hornaday) win at Atlanta and Kyle Busch taking a trip to victory lane at Charlotte, we believe we have a solid benchmark for our chassis setup and the teams will unload strong and run well. "

ON RACING AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: "It's always fun to run at Texas Motor Speedway, and the Chex 400 has traditionally been a great event. The folks at Texas Motor Speedway have worked really hard to make this a great race track. Texas has always been a first class facility, but with the improvements that they have made to the racing surface and because the surface gets seasoned over the years, this has become a great place for some exciting racing for the fans. The spring race is especially fun since its run under the lights and the track is well lit. The visibility under the lights is extremely good.
"I have been fortunate to go to victory lane here twice including last spring and let me tell you, this is not the kind of race where you win by running away and hiding, either. Whoever wins is going to have to work pretty hard to get there. It's a nightlong process but it sure feels good when you win the thing.
"Texas is also special to our team because (team owner) David Dollar is from nearby Oklahoma. This is considered his home track, it's a high priority to run well."
DRIVER: JACK SPRAGUE
TEAM: No. 16 Xpress Motorsports Chevy Trucks Silverado
Date of Birth: August 8, 1964 Hometown: Spring Lake, MI
ON RACING AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: " Texas Motor Speedway has always been one of my favorite tracks. Even with the changes they have made over the years, it is a place I have adapted to easily and enjoy racing here. I have had some good runs here in the past. This Chevy Trucks team needs a win at Texas. We have had some great trucks and been in position to get some strong finishes and maybe a win or two and then we have bad luck. Everyone on this team is working as hard as they can to get us to victory lane. We just can't seem to shake the bad luck. Texas would be the perfect place to turn it around. It is a good track for me as a driver and us as a team. We had good top-five runs in both 2004 races so we know we have the right combination for the place. We just need some luck."
DRIVER: DAVID STARR
TEAM: No. 75 Spears Manufacturing Silverado
Date of Birth: October 11, 1967 Hometown: Houston, TX
ON RACING AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: It's always fun to go home and race at Texas Motor Speedway. I just love that place, it's a great place to race. I love the surface of the racetrack. I'll be honest I can't think of anything wrong with the Texas Motor Speedway. When the truck series comes to Texas they put on a good show for the fans. The fans really love the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series racing there. You ask every driver in the Craftsman Truck Series garage what are your favorite top three race tracks to race at. Texas Motor Speedway would probably be on all of their lists. It's a great facility, I'm glad to call it my home track. Its always fun to go home and race and I can't wait to get there. Hopefully we can put our Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet in Victory Lane. It's a tough place to win - always has been. We've come close but never have been the first race truck across the start finish line when they wave the checkered flag. We're going next week to give it everything we've got and hopefully go and win ourselves a Texas race. There wouldn't be anything bigger than winning at Texas Motor Speedway.
DRIVER: RON HORNADAY
TEAM: No. 6 Kevin Harvick, Inc. GM Goodwrench Silverado
Date of Birth: June 20, 1958 Hometown: Palmdale, CA
ON RACING AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: "Don't mess with Texas! I see that on T-shirts and hats, and when it comes to racing at Texas Motor Speedway, it's the truth. Texas is a fast race track and one where if you hit the setup correctly, you can run away from the pack and stay in clean air. It is so important to be good right off the truck. If you can just make minor tweaks, you will be in great shape during the race. But if you have to chase the setup all weekend and look for speed, you most likely will never find it. The leader has a tremendous advantage here and they typically pull away to large leads. That gives you the ability to make perfect passes and run a consistent pace. The only factor that can affect a fast or slow car is the weather. It always seems like rain comes sometime during the weekend, so Wally (Rogers) will have to be part weather man and part crew chief."
