There wasn't a youngster among those left standing when the dust settled on Friday night's World Financial Group 200 with 46-year-old Ron Hornaday Jr. winning for the 27th time in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition.

Each of the top four finishers never will see their 40th birthday again. Neither will sixth place Ted Musgrave, who turns 50 in December.

No worries, said defending series champion Bobby Hamilton, 49, a top-three finisher for the third time in 2005 and the points leader by 65 over Musgrave.

"I told the Dodge people when they asked what these 'kids' need is a little more age," said Hamilton, his tongue planted firmly in his cheek. "They'll be all right when they get a little older."

Sean Murphy, a 20-year-old New Zealand native, was the best finishing among the under-30 crowd with a career best performance of 13th. The run earned Murphy the race's $1,000 Raybestos Rookie award.

Kevin Harvick couldn't help but enjoy a little déjà vu when Hornaday held off hard-charging Bobby Labonte to win by less than a foot. The finish literally duplicated Harvick's first NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory over Jeff Gordon at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2001 by an even closer margin of 0.006 second.

The victory, however, officially belongs to Harvick's wife DeLana, the registered owner of Hornaday's No. 6 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet. She is the sixth female owner to win a series race.

Friday was win No. 1 - as a spotter - for the truck team's general manager Rick Carelli, a four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winner as a driver. Carelli and Hornaday are former NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series champions while Harvick and Carelli both won NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series crowns. A truly West Coast reunion, it seems. Crew chief Wally Rogers was the only newcomer to the party. It was his first win on the series - but likely won't be the last.

Since early August 2004, when Chad Chaffin won at Indianapolis Raceway Park, there have been 13 different winners in 15 series races. The string could get a little longer with the likes of Jack Sprague, Jimmy Spencer, Dennis Setzer, Rick Crawford and Ricky Craven winless over the span.

***

Two drivers reached milestones at Atlanta. Sprague marked his 200th series race with a finish of eighth and his record-extending 149th top-10 finish. Matt Crafton put start No. 100 on the board, coming from the rear of the field to 14th after his Menards Chevrolet crew buttoned up an engine change with barely a lap remaining before the green flag flew.

***

Atlanta was not kind to Orleans Racing. Brendan Gaughan failed to qualify for the first time in 67 appearances and teammate Steve Park - winner of last month's California Speedway round - suffered early engine failure to rank 35th out of 36 starters.

Veteran Mike Skinner didn't fare much better. Taking the lead from Crawford with a jackrabbit run into the first turn, Skinner was pulling away from the field when his Toyota cut a tire and slapped the Turn 4 wall on lap 38 to bring out the first caution flag. Last year's runnerup finisher wound up 34th.

***

With Crawford's record lap of 182.735 mph, Atlanta Motor Speedway ranks No. 2 among fastest tracks on the schedule behind Daytona International Speedway where Joe Ruttman snagged the Bud Pole in 2000 with a 187 mph-plus dash. Texas Motor Speedway had stood second.

The top 20 qualifiers all bettered David Reutimann's year-old mark of 179.452.

***

With an impound following Friday evening time trials, qualifying didn't mean much - except to the four drivers failing to make the show on times. David Starr and Terry Cook were the only top-10 qualifiers to finish among the top 10. Hornaday started 18th, Labonte 19th, Hamilton 36th and Setzer 14th.

***

A near-record 23 drivers completed the Atlanta race on the lead lap. The series mark is 24 - most recently last April at Martinsville Speedway.

***

The Labonte brothers - Terry and Bobby - now share a common series record with the Bodines - Todd and Geoffrey. Both sets of siblings have finished one-two in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition. No two brothers have managed to win a series race.

Bobby Labonte gets his next shot on April 9 at Martinsville where he finished third behind Jamie McMurray and teammate Setzer last October.

***

NASCAR officials put nearly a dozen trucks on the chassis dyno following Friday night's race. One truck from each manufacturer - the Starr's Chevrolet, Musgrave's Dodge, Cook's Ford and Chaffin's Toyota - will head to the wind tunnel on March 31 as part of the sanctioning body's ongoing evaluation of engine and aerodynamic parity.

***

Carl Edwards' Atlanta NASCAR Busch Series win on Saturday makes him the 26th different NASCAR Camping World Truck Series winner to have won a race on at least one of the other two NASCAR national touring series. Edwards needs a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory to make him the 11th to complete the sweep. Note: Edwards completed the sweep on Sunday, March 20th at Atlanta Motor Speedway when he edged his No. 99 Roush Racing Ford past No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet and driver Jimmy Johnson on the final lap to claim his first Nextel Cup victory.
