Tracy Hines and ThorSport Racing welcome David Zoriki Motorsports as an associate sponsor of Hines' No. 13 ThorSport Racing Chevrolet for the 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Hines, currently in his second full season in the NCTS with ThorSport, first met Zoriki while in the USAC open wheel divisions and is happy their relationship has carried over to NASCAR.
"I am really happy David Zoriki Motorsports has joined us for the 2005 season," Hines said. "I got to know him while I was racing full-time in the open wheel cars. He has his hands in a lot of things. He has some dirt sprint cars and he runs one of the USAC Focus Midgets too. He's been a big supporter of my career, and I can't thank him enough for supporting me and helping put me in a competitive ride at this level of racing."
The sponsorship got off to a rousing start at Daytona where Hines qualified fifth for the season opener and spent most of the evening running among the top-10 before a late race suspension problem sent him behind the wall.
"We sure gave him a good ride at Daytona, and we were looking to do the same at Fontana before we had some engine problems," Hines said. "David's just in this for fun and to help me out, and we want to thank him for all of his help by running up front, finishing in the top-10, and even challenging for wins. We've run well to this point, but circumstances haven't allowed us to finish as well as we could have. With the changes the team has made since California, we're pretty confident that will start to change as soon as we make it to Atlanta."
Hines will pilot the No. 13 ThorSport Racing/David Zoriki Motorsports Chevrolet in Friday night's Easy Care 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The race is scheduled for a 9:30 P.M. Eastern start, and will be broadcast live on Speed Channel and MRN Radio. TruckSeries.com will have continuous real-time practice, qualifying, and race updates on Friday at www.truckseries.com.
