With tax day looming the week after the running of the Advance Auto Parts 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race, Martinsville Speedway has found the perfect pole-day partner.
Speedway officials announced today that Jackson Hewitt Tax Service will be the sponsor of pole day for the Advance Auto Parts 500.
Jackson Hewitt Pole Day will be Friday, April 8, exactly one week before the April 15 deadline for federal tax filing.
"Pole day has always been an important part of race week at Martinsville Speedway and having Jackson Hewitt on board as sponsor is going to make it bigger than ever," said Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell.
"We get great crowds for qualifying. NEXTEL Cup fans in our region have been loyal to qualifying here and that makes a great opportunity for Jackson Hewitt to get their name out in front of a lot of folks. It's a great partnership for everyone involved."
"We are thrilled to be the 2005 Pole Day sponsor for the Advance Auto Parts 500. We feel this is a great opportunity for us to amp up our presence at Martinsville and connect with NASCAR fans," said Mike Lister, President and CEO, Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.
"We are especially excited about the Advance Auto Parts 500 race as we will be the primary sponsor on the No. 16 Ford driven by Greg Biffle for the first time."
Biffle is one of the hottest drivers on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series this season with one win and two top 10 finishes in three starts. He is third in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series standings, 97 points behind leader Jimmy Johnson.
Jeff Gordon was the pole winner for last year's Advance Auto Parts 500 with a speed of 93.502 miles per hour. Ryan Newman set the track record in qualifying for last fall's SUBWAY 500 with a speed of 97.043 miles per hour.
