Truck Series Returns to Track That Put it on the Map 02-02-2009 4:00 pm
Think fast... Who was the first and only driver in NASCAR history to start a mass, on-track autograph session in the middle of a race? Here's a clue... it happened in the 2000 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway, the inaugural Daytona race for the series celebrating its 15th anniversary this season.

TruckSeries Perspective: Dennis Huth 02-10-2009 4:28 pm
John Close The current economic crisis has forced nearly every business in America to assess operating costs and find ways to control them. NASCAR teams are no different and this off-season has been littered with unprecedented crew person layoffs, team mergers and race shop closings.

Mansfield Race Moves to Iowa Speedway 02-10-2009 4:30 pm
NASCAR has announced that Iowa Speedway will host a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on September 5 in place of the event that was originally scheduled May 23 at Mansfield Motorsports Park. The realignment of the race was a result of Mansfield's request that the event be moved from its track because of its inability to meet the requirements necessary to remain a NASCAR sanctioned facility. "It is always exciting to go to a new venue and show the fans what the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is all about," said NASCAR's Vice President of Racing Operations Steve O'Donnell. "The Midwest has some of our sport's most loyal fans and Iowa Speedway produces some incredible racing as we've seen with the NASCAR Camping World East and West Series. We look forward to racing there this season."

The top qualifier on Saturday, Todd Bodine was first out of the chute in Sunday's first round of Race 1, which featured NASCAR and NHRA racers competing against the clock for a trip to the podium. His maiden run of 49.83 seconds stood as the fastest in the round as the top eight of 12 drivers advanced...

NASCAR Trucks Continue Double-Digit Ratings Climb 02-17-2009 8:03 pm
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on SPEED picked up right where it left off in 2008 with a double-digit Nielsen Ratings increase from the season opener in Daytona. The Friday night race, won by Todd Bodine, scored a Nielsen mark of 1.90 (1,393,000 households), making it the No. 1 show on cable during that time period. The rating marked an increase of 21 percent from last year’s 1.57 (1,128,000 households). The race broadcast peaked at a 2.28 (1,673,000 households), up 29 percent from last year’s peak of 1.77 (1,272,000 households). “It was another fantastic race and a great way to start the 2009 season,” said SPEED President Hunter Nickell. “The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is loaded with great storylines and we’re jacked up about how the audience continues to respond.”

SKINNER: Strong Start to Season 02-18-2009 5:33 pm
"My heart is in Daytona. I had an awesome truck there last week and it is a shame to get caught up in someone else's problems, but we came home with a top-10 finish, so I'm not going to complain." Mike Skinner

STARR: New Pit Stop Rules "Weird" 02-18-2009 5:42 pm
"It's going to take a lot to get used to with the new pit stop rules like we have now. It's weird coming in for gas and an adjustment and then going back out on the track to catch up and come back in again for tires." David Starr

2009 Truck Series Championship Predictions 02-24-2009 9:03 pm
Ray Dunlap It is clear that 2009 brings with it quite a few challenges for all NASCAR race fans and race teams. It is obvious that sponsorships are harder to come by, and that most teams will have to work harder and smarter with the money they have available. However, it was very inspiring to walk through the garage areas in Daytona and see all the new teams (most of them born from a true; heart-felt desire to compete in motorsports) and all of the new driver combinations. After fourteen years with Craftsman, the NASCAR Truck Series awarded it's naming rights to Camping World. I think this new association is going to be better than we could have imagined. Look for some really cool new ideas from this energetic group.

SPEED Lets Fans in on the Action with NASCAR Smarts 02-27-2009 11:26 pm
“Coming into 2009, we felt very comfortable with our lineup of at-track interview shows and wanted to find a fun way to get the audience more involved in what we do at the track each week,” said Steve Craddock, SPEED SVP of Programming. “We knew it was a bit of a gamble – we didn’t have the show graphics until just before we went on air in Daytona -- but everyone is having a lot of fun with it and the fans really appreciate being included.”
