The first thing you notice at a NASCAR race is the bone-rattling noise. The second thing is the overwhelming corporate presence. Those sponsors' logos cover just about every square inch of available real estate; around the track, on the cars, and even on the drivers. The series themselves bear the names of major corporate brands. The ads range from global to local in scope, and the money they generate is the lifeblood of a racing team. Chad McCumbee is squarely in the middle of the convergence of the worlds of auto racing and advertising. As the driver of the No. 8 Chevrolet Silverado - which currently is without a sponsor - in the Craftsman Truck Series, the 23-year-old Supply, N.C., native in his third season with the truck series is keenly aware of the necessity of sponsors' support. It is widely known that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is full of tough competition. So it's a rare accomplishment for a driver to win three races in a row. It's only happened five times. Should Johnny Benson find Victory Lane Saturday, it would mark Benson's third consecutive victory. He won twice last month at Kentucky Speedway and O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Hopefully, the third time will be a charm for Benson. Last season, the series veteran won at Bristol Motor Speedway followed by a victory at Gateway International Raceway. The next race, however, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, saw Benson end his day in eighth. In 2006, Benson brought home back-to-back wins at Michigan and Milwaukee. Going for the third win, he had to settle for a ninth-place finish at Kansas. (VPS Motorimages Photo)

The Longest Running Primary Team Sponsor In NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series History, Team ASE, Will Not Return For 2009 Season
The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) will not return as a primary team sponsor in the 2009 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, nor will it return as title sponsor of TruckSeries.com Presented by Team ASE, the nation's leading NCTS news and information site. "As one of the original NCTS sponsors, our Team ASE racing program has served the organization well since 1994, but our board has decided that it's time to redirect those resources," said Tim Zilke, ASE President. ASE is the primary sponsor of the No. 59 Harris Trucking/Team ASE Toyota Tundra driven by 2005 NCTS Champion Ted Musgrave. With 16 of 25 races on the 2008 schedule completed, Musgrave currently sits 14th in points, with five top-10 finishes. (Robert Laberge/Getty Images/NASCAR Photo)
