Race 20 in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Season

Johnny Benson and Ron Hornaday Jr. are in a virtual dead heat in the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points race heading into Saturday's Mountain Dew 250 at the always-treacherous Talladega Superspeedway in central Alabama. Through the first 19 races on the 25-race season, Benson leads Hornaday by a single point, with Matt Crafton third, 164 markers back. No one else is within 200 points of the lead duo and truth is, it will take a streak of remarkably bad luck for anyone other than Benson, Hornaday or Crafton to win the title — and Crafton is an extreme long shot. Then again, remarkably bad luck is a common commodity at Talladega Superspeedway, where a simple mistake making a pass can turn into a 10-truck pile-up. On the other hand, the 2.66-mile track does make for some thrilling finishes, as last year's three-way fight among Todd Bodine, Rick Crawford and Benson showed.

Qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday proved to as easy as one-two-three for Roush Fenway Racing. Roush Fenway drivers took the top three positions during qualifying for Saturday’s running of the Mountain Dew 250 Fueled by Winn-Dixie NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. It is the first time in the 14-year history of the NCTS that a single team has captured the first three spots in qualifying. Erik Darnell, driver of the No. 99 Northern Tool + Equipment Ford, will be on the pole for Saturday’s race after posting a fast-lap qualifying speed of 181.753 mph. He will be joined on the front row by John Wes Townley, driver of the No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford, who qualified at 181.563. They are followed by fellow teammate Colin Braun, who turned in a lap of 181.093 in the No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford.

Todd Bodine made a dramatic last-lap pass of Kyle Busch to win Saturday's Mountain Dew 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. Bodine pulled Ron Hornaday Jr. into second with him in the pass at the exit of Turn 4. Combined with Johnny Benson's 11th-place finish, Hornaday now has 39-point lead in the NCTS standings with five races to go. Pole-sitter Erik Darnell led at the start in his Northern Tool + Equipment Ford F-150, only to see the first caution fly on Lap 2 for debris on the track. Darnell led teammate Colin Braun's Con-way Freight Ford and defending race-winner Todd Bodine's Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra on the Lap 4 restart. On Lap 15, Jack Sprague pitted the American Commercial Lines Chevrolet Silverado, with suspected engine problems. Joey Logano's NCTS debut, meanwhile, hit a big snag as he lost his right-side window in the Team ASE/Raybestos/Harris Trucking Toyota and had to pit for a lengthy repair.
