The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Michigan International Speedway this weekend for the Cool City Customs 200, race No. 10 of 25 for the series in 2008. Michigan is a wide 2-mile oval beloved by drivers for its multiple grooves and relatively few cautions. It's also a fast track — Kyle Busch set the qualifying record here last year at 181.612 miles per hour. Most of all, though MIS is the home track for Roush Fenway Racing and a place where the Ford squad is every bit as dominant as, say, Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets are at Lowe's Motor Speedway. With Roush Industries based in nearby Livonia, Mich., this is a weekend that team co-owner Jack Roush circles on his calendar every year.

Mike Skinner, driver of the No. 5 Toyota, narrowly edged out No. 2 Chevrolet veteran Jack Sprague and fellow Toyota driver Todd Bodine, No. 30 Toyota, to capture the Keystone Light Pole award at Michigan International Speedway. Skinner logged a 41.156 second lap with an average speed of 174.944 mph. Skinner's effort was just enough to stay on top of Sprague's 41.157 second lap. Bodine lapped the 2-mile speedway in 41.158 seconds to secure the third starting position for today's Cool City Customs 200. Chad McCumbee turned an impressive 41.200 second lap at 174.757 mph and Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender Scott Speed rounded out the Top-5 with a 174.592 mph average lap speed in 41.239 seconds. Erik Darnell, No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford, squeaked by Johnny Benson, No. 23 Bill Davis Racing Toyota, to win the Cool City Customs 200 at Michigan International Speedway. Darnell will likely make the record books for winning the closest race in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history - less than a 1/1000th of a second at the finish line. As it turns out the 0.005-seconds margin of victory this year at Michigan International Speedway was the closest under electronic timing and the second closest in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series history. Butch Miller beat Mike Skinner by 0.001 seconds at Colorado National Speedway in July 1995, the series' closest recorded margin of victory. "It definitely means a lot, not only for me but for Ford and for Roush Fenway. I honestly believe we should've had a couple of them earlier this year - Daytona and Charlotte are two of them that we probably should've won both of those already. Stuff happened and we didn't. It's just kind of frustrating, but to finally get that win out of the way; I mean, it's been over a year since I won one of these things and we've been close so many times and we were finally able to put everything together today. Matt Puccia and everyone on this Northern Tool + Equipment crew did a great job. Pit stops were great today. This is a brand-new truck. All the guys back in the shop worked their butts off on it. It was, on paper, the best truck we had and I think it showed out on the race track today." commented Michigan winner Erik Darnell. (Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images Photo)
