Good morning from Talladega Superspeedway!

10-04-2007  9:03 am

Good morning from Talladega Superspeedway! Overcast clouds are giving way to clear skies but there is a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms in the area with temperatures expected to reach the mid-80s. We'll have all the action as it unfolds throughout the event heading into the Mountain Dew 250, the 20th race of 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

10-04-2007  10:39 am

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series made its debut at the 2.66 mile-long facility in 2006. Mark Martin captured the inaugural Bud Pole award with a blistering 182.320 mph lap in 52.523 seconds. Experience Can't Hurt

10-04-2007  11:22 am

A dozen drivers have experience in all three national NASCAR series; Johnny Benson, Mike Bliss, Todd Bodine, Chad Chaffin, Derrike Cope, Ron Hornaday, Jr., Mark Martin, Ted Musgrave, Dennis Setzer, Mike Skinner, Jack Sprague and Mike Wallace have all competed in Cup, Busch and Truck series races at Talladega Superspeedway. Ironically, the only driver not entered in this year's event is last year's winner Mark Martin.

2008 NCTS Schedule Expected Soon

10-04-2007  11:26 am

The 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule is expected to be released in the near future, possibly today. The most notable change to next year's schedule is that there are none! The trucks are expected to return to Mansfield and California - no Iowa or Richmond.  The Gateway race will likely move off the Labor Day weekend and we'll see both Truck and Busch series run a double-header on Saturday in California.  Two races will be broadcast on Fox and we expect California to be one of those events.

Unofficial 2008 NCTS Schedule - Tentative and subject to change

Also involved in the first incident in final practice, Tim Sauter and his #07 team are still working on their primary truck.  No injuries have been reported.

Kvapil Going to Backup, But Engine OK

10-04-2007  6:39 pm

Travis Kvapil and his No. 6 team pulled their primary engine out of their damaged truck after an early wreck in the final practice session.  Kvapil has little to worry about as it just so happens the backup truck is the same truck that won last year at Talladega and again this year in Daytona.

"I shouldn't have put my truck in that position during practice.  In a race, yes, but not in practice," commented Kvapil while his teammates moved his Roush powerplant into the backup truck.

Two Trucks Starting in the Rear

10-04-2007  6:53 pm

The #16 Chevrolet team and driver Derrike Cope have opted to work on their primary truck and are determined to make repairs in time for Bud Pole Qualifying on Friday.  Tim Sauter and his #07 are keeping in step and have also opted to work on their primary truck rather than roll out a backup.
