Good Morning from The Mile

06-22-2007  10:23 am

Good morning from The Milwaukee Mile! We are getting set for round 11 of the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the Toyota Tundra 200. Tonight's race marks the 13th time the Truck Series has raced here in the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis, Wisconsin. It should be a great day for racing with high temps expected to reach into the mid 70s, and once the sun goes down it should drop into the low 60s or maybe even the upper 50s. There should be intermittent sun and clouds throughout the day which should make the day all the more pleasant. We'll have all the action on the track throughout out the day covered for you, and we'll also update you on any news and notes from the garage area as well, so stick with us!

Entry List Updates

06-22-2007  10:28 am

Some changes to our "normal" weekly entry list:

Josh Wise makes his third start of the season in the No. 00 Toyota for Darrell Waltrip Racing
Stacy Compton is back in the No. 09 Ford for Wood/jtg Racing
Mike Bliss takes the reins of the No. 4 Dodge for BHR
Benny Gordon will look to make his first Truck Series start here in the No. 16 Ford with Xpress Motorsports
Kelly Bires returns to the seat of the No. 21 Ford for Wood/jtg Racing
Scott Lynch makes another attempt in his family-owned No. 29 Dodge
Brad Mueller looks to make his series debut in the No. 31 Dodge for Brevak Racing
Shane Huffman hops back in the No. 40 Key Motorsports Chevy
Peter Shepherd will make his first start since Las Vegas in Sept. 2006 in the No. 50 Ford for Roush Racing
Kelly Sutton is back for her third start in the No. 51 Chevrolet with Billy Ballew Motorsports
Jack Smith is here for his second career series start in the Mittler Bros. Racing No. 63 Ford

Late Entry

06-22-2007  11:42 am

There has been a late addition to the entry list: Green Light Racing has entered a third truck, the No. 06 Chevrolet, for Canadian Randy MacDonald. That entry is likely only a field-filler and will only run a handful of laps before pulling off.

Teams Working Off Pit Road

06-22-2007  11:43 am

For the past several years, the teams have worked throughout practice in the paddock area behind pit wall. This year, NASCAR has allowed the teams to work out of their stalls on pit road. It has significantly relieved congestion behind pit wall, and should make for a much more efficient practice session.

Sprague Carrying a Good Luck Charm

06-22-2007  11:51 am

The Wyler Racing Team is always looking for a fun way to help improve their chances with Lady Luck. Remember the stuffed monkey they had strapped in over the final handful of races in 2006, and remember the uproar it caused when it was monkey-napped by another team? Well, they are back at it this weekend here at Milwaukee:

They have a new stuffed monkey trying to "get the monkey off their back" this weekend. As you can see, they don't want the monkey to be frightened so they have its hands over its eyes. Hopefully for Sprague and Co., they monkey will help turn their dismal luck of late around.

Practice Up Next!

06-22-2007  11:58 am

The first practice session of the day is just moments away from rolling off. We'll keep you updated throughout with all of the action on the track and timing updates as well. Stick with us!

Clean and Green So Far

06-22-2007  12:32 pm

The first practice has run clean and green so far through the first 35 minutes. As is to be expected here at The Milwaukee Mile, teams are fighting a tight condition through the long, flat corners. One driver that is not to this point is Johnny Benson. Benson just jumped to the top of the scoring chart moments ago, and he reports to his team that the truck is "just a little little-bit loose." He continued on,"if we can keep it like this and just adjust it during the race I'll be happy." Most everyone asked agrees that the track will continue to tighten up once the sun goes down, so they will work on making their trucks loose through practice and let them tighten up naturally once the sun goes down.

That can all be found by looking to the right side of the TrackSideLive! page in the Sights and Sounds bot. Click in the Podtrac player to listen to the driver audio. We have clips with Todd Bodine, Erik Darnell, Ted Musgrave, Ryan Mathews, Brad Mueller, and Tim Sauter, and we'll have much more once the race ends. Be back with you soon!

Toyota Tundra Race Updates 1-10

06-22-2007  9:32 pm

10. Lap 49 - Benson slips inside Bodine in the race for second. He takes the spot into one.

7. Lap 39 - Lynch has a left rear suspension problem that has brought him to the pits. Kvapil and Smith have a little tussle after contact got Kvapil sideways trying to put a lap on Smith. Kvapil gave Smith a boot off turn two and Smith s forced to make a good save to keep it pointed in the right direction.

6. Lap 37 - Gaughan comes to pit road. Benson pressures Sprague for third, but he has a small piece of his rear bumper hanging loose after contact to the rear. Kvapil gets loose and makes a great save.

5. Lap 35 - Gaughan reports a tire going down. He is dropping back and has fallen off the lead lap.

4. Lap 34 - Lynch goes behind the wall.

1. Sorry for the delay in getting up and running with updates! There was a connection problem and we didn't realize it until the race was underway! We are back in the media center, safely connected and will bring you the rest of the action uninterrupted. Skinner started from the pole and has led all 22 laps run so far. We have had one caution after Hornaday and Allen tangled in turn four with Hornaday going around in a smoky 360. The top ten as they run are Skinner, Bodine, Sprague, Benson, Kvapil, Darnell, Musgrave, Kinser, Crafton, and Sauter.
