Good Morning from Kansas Speedway
04-27-2007 9:41 am
Good morning from Kansas Speedway and welcome to TruckSeries.com TrackSideLive! coverage of the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250, round five of the 2007 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. After a cold and overcast day yesterday, today dawned bright and sunny and we're expecting temperatures to reach into the low 70s. That is a very pleasant change from the extreme heat we've dealt with here in past years when the race was run in July. We'll have complete coverage, inlcuding hundreds of images and audio, throughout the weekend so stick with us!

Activity in the Truck Series Garage Picking Up
04-27-2007 11:14 am
The activity in the Truck Series garage area is picking up. The teams are starting to roll through the inspection areas as we close in on the start of practice. Most teams have made it through with relative ease, although a couple have had to tweak some things. NASCAR officials keep a close eye on all aspects, and they've had the No. 71 team make some adjustments to the right front fender and they also were keeping a close eye on the fuel cell installation of the No. 63 Ford.
Entry List Updates
04-27-2007 11:27 am
Here are the updates to our normal weekly entry list:
Bryan Silas is entered, attempting his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race in the No. 71 Chevrolet. Jason White is slated to make his first start in the No. 7 Chevrolet, his second attempt of the 2007 season. Scott Lynch returns to the series, making his first attempt of the season in the No. 63 Ford.

Once this is done, we are quiet while the ARCA cars make their qualifying runs. Final practice will come after the conclusion of ARCA qualifying.

Rain in Kansas
04-27-2007 3:20 pm
The 40 percent chance of showers has turned into a 100 percent chance as it has started to rain here at the Kansas Speedway. The track is wet, but we've yet to hear any word on how the weather has affected the rest of today's track schedule. As soon as we do have that word from NASCAR and track officials, we will pass that on to you.
Practice Canceled; Rain Wins this Round
04-27-2007 3:35 pm
The immediate weather forecast for the Kansas Speedway is rain, rain, and more rain so NASCAR officials have canceled the remainder of the track activity for the NCTS for today. That means the next on track action for the series will be tomorrow's Live! Bud Pole Qualifying, which is slated for 2:30 pm ET.

We will have garage audio posted for you shortly!
We met up with Joe Ruttman and talked to him about his return to the series, his return to BHR and driving the No. 18 Dodge with the late Bobby Hamilton's name on the door. We also spoke to his teammate Chase Miller and talked about his first impressions of the Kansas Speedway and working with a new teammate this weekend. Johnny Benson tells us about his truck in first practice, and Willie Allen talks about the bad luck his team experienced in practice. We also spoke to Kenny Hendrick, a shock expert who is making his first series start since 2003.

For the fourth time in five races, the ThorSport team is changing engines in the No. 13 after a problem in practice. That means Willie Allen will be forced to drop back at the start and take the green flag from the tail of the field.

Good Morning from Kansas
04-28-2007 11:01 am
Good morning from a bright and sunny Kansas Speedway! The showers that plagued final practice last night moved out and allowed for the ARCA REMAX Series race to be run, and we woke this morning to a beautiful sunny sky and very mild and pleasant temperatures. The weather experts call for 75 degrees today, a welcome change from the triple-digit temps we've experienced here in the past. The garage opened just about an hour ago, and after we update some of the 2007 stats, we'll take a walk through the garage with the camera and the microphone and see what we can find out. Stick with us, we have a lot on the plate for today including Live! Bud Pole Qualifying at 2:30 pm ET, and the green flag on the O'Reilly 250 shortly after 6 pm ET.

O'Reilly 250 Race Updates 1-10
04-28-2007 5:59 pm
10. Lap 9 - The back quarter of the field pits. Allen comes off pit road first followed by Darnell, McCumbee, Lynch, Silas, Kinser, Hendrick, Rogers and Gaughan.
9. Lap 5 - Skinner leads by half the distance of the backstretch over Kvapil, Walker, Hornaday, Gale, Musgrave, Miller, Sprague, Bires, Fike, Cook, COmpton, Bodine, Benson, Crawford, Setzer and McCumbee. McCumbee slid high and nearly scraped the wall in three and four. Caution out for the first time as Rogers gets too low and goes around off turn two. No contact and he drives away.
8. Lap 3 - Kvapil moves to second. Hornaday starts to pressure teammate Gale for fourth, taking the spot at the stripe.
7. Green flag. Skinner jumps out to the lead as Kvapil and Bires race side by side for third. Skinner leads lap one over Walker, Kvapil, Gale, and Hornaday.
6. Debris is reported in turns three and four, but NASCAR officials in the second pace truck have stopped and retrieved it on their way to the pit road and we will not be delayed on the start. Green flag next time by.
5. The field is rolling from pit road. All trucks have moved from the grid. They are now setting their pit road speed behind the two Chevrolet pace trucks.
4. Scheduled distance is 167 laps/250.5 miles. 00, 13 to the rear for engine changes; the 8, 50, 77 and 99 to the back to unapproved adjustments in impound. We'll have one attempt at a green white checkered finish if there is a caution that prevents the finish at the advertised distance.
3. Engines have been fired and the field should roll for three pace laps momentarily.
2. The invocation and anthem have been given and we are getting close to the command to fire engines.
1. Drivers have been introduced and have moved to pit road to stand aside their trucks as we conclude pre-race ceremonies. Add the No. 8 Chevy to the list of trucks that have to go to the back for the start as Blake Bjorklund's team made an unapproved adjustment in impound.
O'Reilly 250 Race Updates 11-20
04-28-2007 6:29 pm
20. Lap 34 - Musgrave is sliding back, now running tenth after Darnell moves past for position. Skinner has caught and lapped Silas and Hendrick.
19. Lap 32 - Skinner leads by 3.5 seconds over Kvapil, Hornaday, Sprague and Bodine.
